Let me know when you do. GOOOOOD STUFF, them brownie waffles! :-) I think I mentioned on my blog that I found the recipe in one of my mom's old cookbooks -- published in 1966, which makes it as old as I am [+/- a month or three]. Also, I suggested using a bit more chocolate than the original recipe calls for, and adding the "optional" cinnamon. Do that -- you'll be glad you did. One of these years, I might try making 'em with Hershey's powder, but to get the equivalent of the baker's chocolate squares, I'd have to add a heck of a lot of oil too, so... {shrug} Maybe I won't. :-) I think that'd be something like another 10 or 15 tbsp on top of what's already in the recipe, and in the butter. *eep!*
OHyeah. They rock! I'm not sure about alternate methods of cooking the batter, though. You MIGHT be able to make 'em like a pancake, but I think I'd use a small pan if I were trying that. Bear in mind that it's a rather thick batter, and they're kinda rich, too, so you probably wouldn't want 'em the size of a regular pancake. I'd go with "silver-dollar" size. I suppose you might also be able to get away with using a rectangular cake pan, and just cut 'em up into squares. Or... You could buy a waffle iron. ;-> [Regular type, not Belgian.]
