Hey, I really enjoyed those 12 hours! Lotsa munnies for little effort & fun. No sooner than I got there, the client left with his daughter to go to church. The son showed me his 'puter & I had an enjoyable 2 hours in Cheezland! (& was getting PAID for it!) Enjoying the egg nog! I hope for some REAL egg nog after the g'sons go home...Happy Catmas & all that! {{{HUGZ}}}
Ohai, Beeves! It was what I call "dark-thirty" when I got the call to go to work...still light, but not very. My lady was a little loopy, having had wine @ the dinner & she was working on one when I got there. It was a fairly early night for her! LOL! I'll be around all weekend...gonna attempt to do some cleaning between visits to Cheezland, so if I don't answer right back, I'll get to it soon. Can't be away from here for long! I'll get the "bends"!
I have the dead parrot sketch on my dvr...if only I could transfer it to a dvd! Haven't figured that out tho. The cable company prolly doesn't have it fixed so that you could hook up to the computer or anything...I always felt sorry for poor Richard. Have friends like that. The woman is overbearing & not as intelligent as she thinks she is...poor man can't open his mouth & she tells him how to breathe. Can't stand her...adore him. He's like my little brother or something. His taste in women is terrible. I've known him for years...got Boo from him, as a matter of fact. His ex-wife left him & he couldn't keep Boo, so he gave her to me. His ex-wife was horrible, too. I couldn't stand her, either. He always winds-up with women who either take advantage of him or browbeat him. Wish he'd find a good one! Waiting on my phone to ring...I don't want to leave after dark, but it looks like I'll be driving in the dark after all. I hate that!
I'll have to do that. I'm always up for a good laugh. I was wrong earlier...Python marathon isn't until tomorrow. Been listening to Gavin & Stacey most of the afternoon. I used to never miss Keeping Up Appearances (sp?) I identified with Daisy...had a stepmother like Hyacinth! Lot of the good comedies have gone away...at least they aren't too expensive to get on dvd. I had the last season of Cheers on tape, but tapes don't hold up over the years. Our local PBS station never ran more than a few episodes of Waiting For God...luckily, the NC station did. When I didn't have cable, I had to hope the weather was right for the station to come in!
That's a great story...too bad you haven't been over to visit. When you come over, be sure to let me know & we'll try to meet up. Srsly, Greer & Taylors are thisclose together, although both are sprawling in every direction. I LOVE Fawlty Towers!! Have the entire series on dvd. Had it on tapes & gave them to a friend who loved it when I got the dvd's. Never got a chance to watch Blackadder. I'll have to remedy that. I liked Ab Fab & Waiting For God puts me in the floor! I want to be Diana when I grow up!
OMG!!! Greer city limits are like 4 miles from my front door! I live in Taylors - Pebble Creek Apts - to be more precise. I go to the Target up the road from time-to-time & go to the Bloom when I want GOOD groceries. Small world! I get annoyed at the extreme makeover shows...makes me want 'em to find me, but I'm not needy enough for 'em, I guess. Will watch out for that show on BBC-A. Not much hope. They don't show much but stuff they're tired of airing over there. Today I get my Monty Python fix, tho. MP ALL day. Wow! I still can't get over your friend living so close to me!
LOL! Ai moved awai frum TX, back to FL...den up to upstate NY...BACK to FL an' naow ai lib in SC. Nawt lissenin' tu moosic tudai...got da tv on BBCAmerica. Waitin' on How Clean Is Your House in hopes of gettin' inspired. Sorry ur 'pooter borked on ya. Glad ur back naow. Nebber saw da ex agin...guess he too da hint! Ai haz wun naow hoo iz mai daughter's daddy. We been seperated furr 'bout 20 yrs. Just nebber got a divorce. He libs in NY an' we talk ebbry wunce in a while. Mai dgt dis-owned him, tho. She finks he's an idiot...an' a liar...SMART KID!!! LOL
Glad you got a giggle out of my story. The ex was livid when he came home from work that day & I was gone. Dad lived across town from us, but wouldn't tell him that I'd flown out to Texas to stay with my brother. When he finally tracked me down, he demanded that I come back to Georgia...I told him I had made friends out there (in TX) & wasn't coming back to GA on a bet. He asked me some rude questions that weren't any of his business & I just said: "You don't know, do you?" & hung up the phone. That's the last words I ever said to him! LOL He had fits b/c I refused to take his calls. That was before caller ID, so my brother & I would just let the phone ring off the wall! Yeah, I bet Freddie would've had a BIG party if he was alive...I'm sorry to hear about your friend's loss. Life is sometimes visciously cruel. My heart goes out to him.
I'm all for preservation, but seems like they could have made better arrangements @ the stones. I'd love to touch one just to see if it DID have any power. I could do with erasing about 20 years off my age! Maybe 30, the way the cold is hitting me this year! Yeah, I loved Queen...amazing to think that Freddie would've been 60 this past Sept! Their songs helped me thru a rough time in my life & I even left the lyrics to "Death On Two Legs" for my 1st husband when I left him! Hope he got the hint!! At least my divorce from him was quick & easy...& a lo-o-o-ong time ago. (back in the 70's) Time's flown since then!
I remember when you COULD touch the stones...such a shame you can't now...May's been playin' God Save The Queen since forever...he used to play it at the end of their concerts all the time. Dunno exactly when he started it, but it always gave me goosey-bumps! I have errands to run today, so if I'm not on, I'll be back...I almost wish this site was the one that came up when I boot-up my computer! I always come here first, anyway!
Ai don't think I'd much care for visiting any BIG cities...ai'd like to see the smaller towns & villages...the ones where time stood still. Ai'd LUV to see Stonehenge & Cornwall. Ai downloaded Brian May's guitar version of "God Save The Queen" as it's loud enough to get mai attention! Ai don't know all the words, either!
Ai tinks dey HAZ bin holdin' me hostij! Ai haz luvved ennyting British sinze ai wuz a leetle hoomin. Drove mai 'dopted parentz craizee. Ai haz a luv to goe over dere an' stai, but mai daughter would haz a hissy-fit. Ai haz a BIG Union Jack up in mai apt. & mai ringtone on mai cell fone is "God Save The Queen"! Ai guess ai nebber get ovah da beeg puddle, tho. Gibs me a sad... :( ...but ai haz a happee cuz ai can visit on da intertubez! :)
