I sent you one of each of the ones you requested. I still have some (few) coins left but I'm going to hold those for a little while. When we get closer to the cutoff date I'll use them to help people who just need one or two to complete their collections.

I'm a ham radio operator, and some of my ham buddies are in the Harrisonburg area, as well as the Warrenton and Culpeper areas. And, last year at Charlottesville I won first place in a ham radio mobile station contest, so I'm well familiar with the immediate area. Here's my ham radio page http://www.qrz.com/db/KJ4VOV You'll find my email address up towards the top (right above the "biography" tab, and pictures of our cats at the bottom of the page.

I had forgotten where you live, so I checked your profile. I have a friend & former colleague who lives in Fr'burg. Cousins & their kids & grands live in the Fairfax & Warrenton, VA area. Usually, as close as Hubby will drive is to Charlottesville to my appts at UVA Med Ctr., or to the Harrisonburg/Mt. Crawford area for the GreenValley Book Fair, Dayton Amish Farmer's Market, etc. I *did* get to the Harper's Ferry area a few years ago w. our older son & d-i-l who live in Wyoming. She's from the Northwest & wanted to see some scenery & historical areas. One time when they flew in while I was doing BC chemo in Charlottesville, they volunteered to drive me over. I encouraged them to extend their sightseeing while I was just sitting there during treatment, so they were able to get to tour Monticello. On the way back to WV, we went from Churchville to Mt. Crawford, Dayton, & Harrisonburg. So, it was a very long day, but she was able to see a lot that she'd never seen before. In 2011, our older son was one of the 2 USFS LEOs to escort the 2011 Capitol Christmas Tree across the country from Wyoming. She & our toddler grandaughter flew to DC & were able to tour & enjoy DC before we "family Pony-Expressed" the 2 of them to WV to visit before flying back to Wyoming. All the Capitol Christmas Tree expenses are donated, inc. gas, meals, trucks, truck drivers, etc. So, of course, son & d-i-l paid for her & grand's flight, meals, room, etc. and they couldn't ride w. him in his USFS vehicle. So, we drove to Roanoke to set "the girls" on their way back to Wyoming while he drove back. BTW, sometime, I want to talk w. you more as a human living w. a Maine Coon Cat. Unfortunately ours, Lazarus, was not with us but for a few months before his adventurous spirit & large size caused him to disappear from our lives. (He let himself out one August night & despite much searching and advertising was not heard from again.) More abt him in the MyFamily, My Pics, & My Lolz. We had never had one before I adopted him from our Humane Society.

Thanks so much for helping. (See my weather update on EchoPoint) BTW, do you know that ICHC did have the buying w. coins cut-off date of Feb 15th, but now - I see - it's the same as the gifting cut-off date of April 15th. Also, ICHC lifted the limit of one coll gifted to one CF per day limit? I don't want to overload CFs who are helping us help others, but some would just rather have a list & send several colls during the same ICHC session. My thanks again and, if you're in the cold weather, keep warm & cozy.

Happy to help. I'll do one each day for you.

I don't know if you still have any coins left to spend. If you do, these are some of the colls that I still need in order to help others: (2) Derpy Hooves; (2) Twilight Derp; (2) Game Controllers; and (2) Bachelor Frogs and (2) Scumbag Steevees If you can help w. any of these, we'd appreciate it.

Oh, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the coin offer!!! I'll send a wish list later today. Hopefully, we'll keep our utilities through this snow storm. (fingers crossed)

Just FYI, I still have a few coins left. What do you need?

By WatogaSP on Jan 23, 2012 at 9:23 AM

I EDed your post to EveryonesExWife abt coll. coins. I'm also one of the ones trying to relay colls. to needy CFs. Right now, I have 5 main ones in my notebook on which I'm concentrating :SWinNW, ShadowCatWaalker, ChillyDawg, Molly_Mommy, & Kayceeehm. If you're CF w. any of them, I know that they'd appreciate the help. If not you can send a coll. to me & I'll relay it to the intended CF, or just to any of the 5. If you send one for a particular CF, just send me a post telling me which coll & which CF. Thanks in advance!

I have full sets of every collectible, except for three from the original Dr. Tinycat set.

Glad that you kept me on your friends' list. As far as collectibles, I try to thank everyone, but sometimes I get behind. If you need any of the current ones, I gift the extras as soon as I get them - so just let me know. Personally, I like the more traditional ones best - not into meme or other more modern stuff.

Even tho. they aren't a member of the USHS, that organization may very well be able to help you. The same way w. the public laws. Even if it is not run by a public entity, there are laws they still have to follow, or face a whole lot of investigations & red tape at least. Also, check out nearby legitimate, caring shelters in N. VA that will know your local laws & who to contact.

By Bernie22405 on Feb 26, 2010 at 1:36 AM

The only problem with going to the humane society on this is that they're the ones who run this shelter. "Humane Society" is simply a name, and doesn't mean they are affiliated with the USHS. Anyone can incorporate in VA as a "humane society" and that's what this group did. Their official name is "Orange County Humane Society, Inc." and the shelter is named the "Orange County Animal Shelter", but it's not connected with the county government in any way. It's simply a business name, with neither having and "official" standing.

I just *ed* that you mentioned that it is a "private" shelter. Still, it falls under local, county, state, etc. laws. Go with the Humane Soc. first, then follow Ren. Woman's ideas. I'll check around here abt other paths you could take. Sometimes, the laws abt. animals are even stiffer than those abt care of humans. Sometimes not, altho. all need protection.

By WatogaSP on Feb 25, 2010 at 11:50 AM

So sorry for you & your kitty - as well as other furry friends that have come under this shelter's "care". It looks like Ren. Wom. has some good suggestions. Let us know when you get a response(s). I have to say, that in our large geo., but small pop. rural county, both our Humane Soc. shelter and our past County Animal Rescue folks have been *very* good. I know that at the Hum. Soc., the animals have reg. vet. care, & much more if needed. They are only eauth. if the animal is suffering.

I am so PO'd at a local "shelter" that I could spit! http://cheezburger.com/View.aspx?aid=3221878784
