And I love a good doughnut...but no more. Just found out I'm diabetic, so although I often choose to see the doughnut not the hole, I can't eat the damn thing! It is a tough job market just about everywhere. I won't even try to look until January at the earliest. However, keep in mind that I'm not the parent of 4 children so it's easier for me to have a different attitude or sense of urgency. I keep my fingers crossed for you! Have a great day!
Sorry about the university job. *sad face* Feel free to worry on my shoulder any time. We can compare notes about what we worry about. It's such a tough time for so many of us. I may hate my job but am I ever glad I have one! I know a woman who has been out of work for close to 6 months and she is supremely talented and has experience in many things. Even here in Houston it's hard to find a job...and hard economic times almost always seem to hit here last or at least not as hard. Sending you prayers, positive thoughts, and juju for a great job! And remember: "The optimist sees the doughnut; the pessimist sees the hole." Go for the doughnut. :-)
Yep! Catholicism will do that to you! I have a double whammy since my dad (not biological, but the one who did the hard work of raising me) was Jewish. It's a miracle I don't live under a crush of guilt. Matter of fact, I've got a Teflon coating when it comes to it. Must've built up an immunity along the way. :-)
Well, bless his little heart. I hope he's doing better and that mom & dad are off the guilt train. Life's too short to carry guilt...it's a heavy, heavy load. I gave it up for Lent about 40 years ago and haven't missed it one little bit! It's sweet to see a man who is so involved with his children...not as common a site as one would imagine. How refreshing!! ==^.^==
But isn't tooth decay in young children a somewhat common occurrence? More specifically, don't some kids seem to be more prone to it than others? That's my understanding anyway. Bless his heart. Hope it doesn't create "dentist fear" as he ages. Maybe I've been lucky but I've loved every dentist I've ever had and never had fear of them. Hell! They have novacaine for big kids!
Geez! Dental surgery for a 5 y/o? That's really rough. I was 11 before anything that serious happened and only because I fell on the locker room floor of the 'Y' and knocked 4 front teeth almost out. Traumatic at that age; can't imagine it at 5. Looking forward to a better week ahead. Hope you can say the same!
Yep, similar situation w/me and my sisters. And have had same situation with a few friends over the years. I finally get to the point where I remind myself that relationships are 2-way streets and if they aren't at least occasionally heading in my direction, I'm beating a dead horse. Thank but no thanks. Sad, huh?
Yep, she's giving herself the short end of the stick by cutting herself off from her grandkids. She'll regret it one day. And karma is a real bee-yotch. In this I have the greatest faith. Trust me there were plenty of times I didn't like my mother - sometimes I REALLY didn't like her, but I always loved her and would give anything to have her back (lost both parents in '04) and listen to her b*tch about something. She would have been in her element this past weekend at the niece's wedding! I thought about that while observing all that happened.
Oh...you have one of those families, too?! We have that in common. Thankfully, we are able to choose those whom we prefer as family when our "blood" relatives disappoint. Happens all too often. *sigh* Gonna finish this bowl of cereal and get to looking at lolcats before my day gets away from me here at the office. Hope your day is a good one.
Last weekend was good and this one will be better. Going with my ex to his Dad's 80th b'day. Love my F-I-L; he's a great guy. Excited to see some of the in-laws I haven't seen in a while. Hard to be separated from them when they were my family for almost 27 years. And I was blessed with truly wonderful in-laws. Big plans for the holiday weekend?
Crap. That's a tough way to lose sleep. My reason is far better than that: very good friend went to see Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood concert last night and he called on his way home to tell me about it. He was so excited - like a kid in a candy store! Well, naturally we had to discuss it the entire time he drove home. The call ended about 11:40 and I was still awake at 1:00. Unfortunately for me, alarm goes off at 4:30. YAWN! Here's hoping you have a much better day and night!
And we hit 101o yesterday; forecast for the same today. I would give anything for a weak tropical depression right about now but there is a ginormous high sitting right on top of us and it would likely keep anything developing in the gulf from making landfall. You know it's getting bad when us residents along the coast start wishing for tropical weather!
If only you could divert some of that rain this way. We haven't had measurable rain since late April. I live in an apartment but in our divorce, my ex and I split the 2 acres that our house is on in a semi-rural area SW of Houston. We take turns mowing the entire thing and I haven't had to go out there in almost a month. *sigh* It's just brown. Plus I saw the remnants of a grass fire along the toll road I take to/from work. What's Sesame Place? Somer kind of amusement park?
Good morning. Trust me - I'm homesick as much for the better weather as for just about anything. But, as long as there is air conditioning, I'm okay. I'm only outside long enough to go to/from my truck to get to another place that's airconditioned. And fortunately the truck blows FRIGID air! My youngest grandson turns 2 today; party tomorrow. I have 3 nieces who live in the area and the oldest of them is having her bachelorette party tomorrow night. I've been invited (I'm the "cool" aunt) and planning to go. However, had foot/ankle surgery 2 weeks ago and not fully recovered so that's in the air. I may do the birthday party and head back to home-sweet-home. What are y'all doing this weekend? Any big plans?
That's S.O.P. 'round these parts. Let that program know I'll come kick it's butt if it doesn't stop that! I had foot/ankle surgery last week and have missed a few days...and the early part of the month is billing time; never exactly what you'd call "convenient" for me to be out. *SIGH* This too shall pass. ;-)
