To get on the home page your caption has to be voted on by a bunch of site users (how many votes required is arbitrary) and then it's still not guaranteed to make it. The people who run the site pick the home page images based on votes and their own opinions. I've been on here a little over a year and made it to home page only three times. It is very hard.
