Hi Furrgie. I've been faving your "it's not a democracy" LOLs because I agree that ONE complaint shouldn't mean a LOL automatically gets deleted. That is ridiculous! But... I feel the need to point out that this - ICHC - *isn't* a democracy and never has been. It's a privately owned, for profit, commercial site. As with any physical business site, they have the right to refuse service to anyone or ask someone to either leave or, say, change out of an "inappropriate" t-shirt. I agree wholeheartedly that ONE complaint, whether from an employee or just another "customer" should never mean a delete. That is not fair in the slightest, whether this is a democracy or not. If the site depended on all of us buying something to stay viable they would have to rethink that policy or fear losing so many customers they would go out of business. But somehow, where advertising is involved, the number of people not treated fairly can go up, just so long as the advertisers feel their message is getting out to the public *enough* to their satisfaction. Since I do agree with your general PoV, and maybe some employees might ignore "un-democratic" arguments, maybe some LOLs focusing on how unfair the policy is and how one loyal "customer" can suffer at the hands of only one other would get some attention from the right people? It's just a suggestion, of course. You keep doing what you feel is right - as is your right! BTW... Happy New Year. :)
That is true, that none of us are going to get OUT of this world ALIVE.. and the problems will not have gone away, and we will only be memories to our surviving family and friends to the extent that we made our presence worthy in this lifetime. Many people would not have a clue what I'm even talking about here. They don't give a thought to how they will be remembered. This is why A Christmas Carol, the story about Mr. Scrooge, is one of my favorites of all time. He learned, and then changed himself, and became one of the most beloved characters of all time.. only after realizing that he was hated, made fun of, and would be nothing but dust. It actually mattered to him, and he gained a conscience. Yet as famous as his story is, too many people still never learn the lesson it tries to offer.
And thank you, too, Furrgy. I tend to think that any belief system that helps people want to be good to one another and to themselves (not be selfish but not ignore the gifts from above, either) is a good thing. If it also comforts them when they're in need and inspires them to be the best they can be, even better. Whether any one of them is any better than the others, only time and The Great Divide can tell us. And by then, the problems of this world won't "amount to a hill of beans," as the saying goes. So for now... where goodness exists, tolerate the clothes it wears.
The Do Unto Others Rule reigns Supreme :o) for any faith! Nobody wants to be treated like crap.. but I work with some of the ones that don't even have any conscience. They still have friends and supporters and people whom do not see the ugly that is inside. That type of person is especially hateful to anyone who seeks truth and sees right through their phoniness. Thanks for the enlightenment.
Of course I'm NOT offended.. not in the least! I thank you for supporting the idea that this country with its Statue of Liberty.. was intended to welcome people of ALL faiths and backgrounds. The extremists and politicians changed it to make anyone worshipping anything or anyone.. look bad or stupid. I can assure you that most people looking to a supreme being usually have good intentions.. (hopefully), but again, there are extremists in all faiths.. like how I'm embarrassed by Christians picketting and verbally harrassing or attacking people who don't share their views on abortion. I'm embarrassed by the Benny Hins and other so-called holy men whom only follow the holy dollar.. while victimizing people whom will believe anything out of desperation. I guarantee you that if Benny put his hand on my forehead and shoved me onto the ground, I would come up swingin.. LOL
