I am an admirer of much that is Japanese culture. Loved this site of Cats in woodblock prints! How LOL, Memes, etc used to be done! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/26/cat-art-japan_n_6755592.html
I mostly do sitting practice and TongLen and one or two other specific practices. You are blessed with a plethora of practices teachers. Maitri is a very specific program. I do hope you get to go to Devon! WOW. For many years I have been interested in the universals that manifest in every healthy spiritual practice and belief. In doing that I have immersed myself in learnings and come to more a solitary practioner than a joiner.
Catching up. I practised Rinzai Buddhism for many years and still do sitting practice. Went to Naropa University in CO which was founded by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and is the only accredited buddhist University in the West. There, I practiced Karma Kagyu Buddhism from Tibet which is the origins of Shamata-Vipasshna meditation. But, there are many sects of Buddhism just as many sects of other religions but all have the samee basic tenets. Thích Nh?t H?nh practiced Soto Zen which traveled from China to Japan via BodhiDharma! If you are doing sitting practice with attention to the breath and concentration, you are certainly on a healthy spiritual path! Thanks for sharing with me.
Flash seems to work better on Chrome with the Flash version designed for your OS. The version Chrome uses tends to crash. If you look at about:plugins you will, I think, see what I mean. i am not familiar with MAC so .. .. .. best luck!
