Thanks for your message - I think I'm probably a bit over sensitive today - lack of sleep and pain. I just get rather fed up with the assumption that everyone has a partner. My bank keep sending insurance offers "for you and your partner" even though I have begged them not to. My late husband's firm sent me an invitation to the annual pensioners' lunch asking me to name my partner - it still hurts even after almost 18 years.
