I'm assuming from the way you talked about your Dell, it is now an ex-PC. Your sound alerts were probably pre-programmed. Since I don't have Yahoo, I did a little research for you on the Yahoo home page. I did a search for "sound alerts for my email", and it led to an answer on the side bar that was best answers from Yahoo users. You set the sounds up through Yahoo messenger. I won't confuse you trying to repeat all of that here, but the long and short is that you should just log into your account and do either a "help" search or a yahoo site search. You may have more access to help through your actual log in than did. You may also have to log on with each individual email address to set up unique sounds for each one. That way if you have more than one open, you will know which one got a message... Hope that will help you.
You seem to know a lot abt navigating the Internet. My question is - on my Dell PC, I used to get a notice & a little chime when I had a new e-mail. How do I get that again? Can I get a different symbol and/or sound for diff. accts? I have 3 yahoo e-mail accts & quite often have at least 2 open at the same time using Google, IE, &/or Safari. We are blessed in that I get my Internet through our WVDNR phone service, (but pay for the Internet myself) so the only way the phone co. would add Internet was dial-up (which would have tied-up/blocked WVDNR calls) or the highest speed Internet - which is what I chose & am billed for. (We use our own phone cards to make personal long-distance phone calls.) BTW, we live on a WVDNR Wildlife Management Area where the "office" is in one of the Wildlife Manager's Residence bedrooms. This is a long list again, but I assure you that they (and any other extras inc. multiples) will be distributed to Forever Homes. Every time I think that I'm about to the end of CFs who need collectibles, another one or two pop up on my horizon.
