I haven't seen the blog yet, I have to go to bed, but I don't know how I will sleep. THis is BETA... so give feedback... LOTS of constructive FEEDBACK) I am a bit freaked out. On the one hand, they listened... on the other hand they completely mucked it up in the process... sigh. I sent an email to dollydally81 expressing my dismay and constructive feedback. I would post it here, but it is too long.
Read the ramblings on the latest Cheezeburger blog by Ben (who turned OFF the feedback feature for the post) and tell me the man's meds aren't off. He brags about how everything has been improved and is based on feedback from us, yet it's the exact opposite of the feedback I've see and now the most amateurish thing on the internet. I've said it before in the last couple of months, and it's time to live this: I come to ICHC to escape the crap in the world and relax, not to get more stressed out. I have to take some time off, even if I will miss LOLs made by friends--- And the answer to me is NOT to see re-posts on Face Book; it's obvious that ICHC has been bought out by FB and anyone who hits the Share button is abetting the crime...
I JUST BEAT CHEEZE CENTRAL AT ITS OWN GAME!!!!!! I've been unable to get dashboard messages/ friend requests/ FP pronouncements in my email for months. After several sessions of appealing to Cheeze HQ and my email provider to fix it ("It's your provider's fault" "Nuh-huh, cheeze heads are stoopy, it's them!"), I finally got a message from Will that basically said their email provider for those types of messages had decided my email address itself was to blame and just wouldn't send messages to it anymore (okay, it was more technical than that)... and of coarse he blamed my email provider again, claiming "other" peeps with the same provider were having issues... Well, I have more than one address with the same provider, so I just changed my account to use one of them--- And now I just got alerts for your messages (plus others from the last few minutes) plus thanks for creating LOLS emails! It's not my provider! It's IS a stoopy head program at their end! I may actually know it when I get another FP!
Okay... so I'm looking at the new "ICHC" and "LOL Cats" pages... is it my imagination, or is the new "make-over" plan that they simply took "Animal Capshuns" and made IT the new "Home Page", and now we have to click on "LOL Cats" to see what USED to be the "Home Page"... ? (psst, doan tell anywun, but they still forgots the faving and voting buttons)
(quick reply to your last message, 'cause I'm really not here, I've gone to bed... I am out of votes, but the site should have still allowed me to post a feedback comment, which is what his email told me... only, it was just displaying a big "You are out of votes" message and nothing else... but now it does allow feedback posting, with the "out of votes" message smaller and under the feedback fields... no judging of your friends. you took me on, didn't you? ;)
He is actually on my friends list (I hope you don't think the worst of me because of it) I just told him he has to friend you if he wants you to reply. Were you 'out of votes'? Can you post feedback without voting? SOunds like he got information that it was fixed, told you, and they hadn't loaded the fix.
Okay, this is a little "Big Brother"... Dollydailly just posted me a message on my dashboard, even though we're not friends; and we're still not when I tried to reply to him... and said he was glad his latest email to me was helpful... which it actually wasn't, because I had complained that I could not post feedback under the "Feedback and Support" tab that hangs out on the side of the FP... When I was going there, it would only say "You are out of votes" when I clicked the "Feedback" tab and not let me post actual feedback... It still said that when I first checked it again after I read his reply email, then I checked again two minutes later and it was working like he said it was supposed to... Like someone at HQ suddenly thought to check that site, or my access to it and quietly fixed it before I could complain again... This is the sort of messaging I get when I try to contact cheeze central... And I don't appreciate someone using a public dashboard message to try and make them look good when they what they claim is not exactly true... Sorry to post this to your dashboard, but it seems some serious eavesdropping is happening, so I wanted to take advantage of that and you seemed like the one that might be getting ed'ed the most seriously.
True. But he doesn't know either. Yeah, Techs have their own 'unique' sense of humor. Also they have a strange sense of optimism when it comes to technology... "YEAH!! I CAN HAVE IT DONE BY THE END OF THE WEEK" (two weeks later) "YEAH! I AM ON THE VERGE OF BEING DONE AT THIS MOMENT, JUST GIVE ME ONE MORE WEEK!" Never set your clock by a programming techie. I knew changes were coming to the FP because before they actually changed it, I saw the 'see what the new FP design is going to look like' (it was on every page- quite annoying, but hard to miss) and clicked on it and saw things I didn't like and then went to the blog (where they repeatedly told people that the voting will be back and that the email feature is still there, just on the comment page) and told them what was wrong with it (they obviously didn't change anything, though). The facebook comment thing tho' took me by surprise (they didn't put out a 'this is what the comments are going to look like' notice). VOte!
It would still be good "customer service" to ask a manager to check on it and get back to you, though... I can't help but think this is all because someone in IT was bored and just wanted to shake things up because he/she wanted to. That's one of those urbane myths, I know, like the IT person reroutes your computer to a printer in an office building three blocks away when it was working fine on the printer right behind your cubicle. But the fact that all of this "make-over" happens with no warning or actual reassurance has caused me to boycott the Front Page for now- it depresses me to visit it, and ICHC was my relief from depression... And before anyone thinks I'm just acting out because of the recent disappearance of my outdoor kitteh, the make-over news started before that happened and totally wrecked my appreciation of ICHC then and continues to do so. Just glad to see all of the peeps in our circle that agree.
OHAI! I tell them my opinion and then let them do with it what they will. If I come up with a decent idea (*like the one I had in that feedback) I let them know personally (I sent him my feedback addy- they are watching the votes on that- vote early- vote often) RE: VOTING: I can answer that. I have read MANY times in the blogs (and comments in the blogs): YES the voting will be back: "improved" or "better than ever". I cannot say when, though. He cannot say when. I don't think anyone but the person programming the 'new and improved' voting system can say that. It's like asking the bus boy when your meal is coming. All he can say is 'It's coming, soon.' he doesn't have the intimate knowledge how long it takes to make your entree .
I ed'd your link to Charmer to your blog post. It's getting annoying that this dolly guy is being the only voice for ICHC and there has been no message from Ben about the how and why of these changes. He continues to ignore our complaints with little company line homilies, then suddenly gets offended and tells peep after peep to shut up about the changes. Does the man realize that the advertising revenue comes from people who STAY with the site and click features, and driving us away is neither good for the company or his position? ... And can someone just go ahead and say if the voting/favoring features are going to return or not, so I can decide if it's time to move on to other past times?
Well, I did waver a couple of seconds... "Do I really want something so ... in your face... and possibly damaging to the innocents who frequent here on my dashboard? Uh... well, if they know what 'morning wood' means they aren't so innocent." *BING* One fav'd 'wood troll'. We do have a troll problem around here...maybe that's why they are so grumpy. $:D
