Greetings!! Have managed to wrestle the 'puter off the dreaded teens for once...having said that, I pinched it when I went away for the week, should have seen their faces when I got back!!! I keep trying to remind them that it's mine, but I don't think that means much. Oh well. Sorry to hear that you have naughty little birds in the birdhouse. Squatters. That's what they are. Mind you, robins aren't much better, very territorial and will happily fight to the death (I always think that the red feathers aren't red feathers...t'is blood!!!!). Still, it's all nature. Robin's nests are amazing things, they like to use a lot of *ahem* recycled objects - buckets, bins, old teapots, they're just not fussy!!! One of the things I like about spring coming on is the beginning of the bright green buds in the hedgerows; that always means it's spring to me. Plus, the increase in birdsong first thing in the morning (although I will admit to occasionally muttering about "what have you lot got to be so happy about", usually while shuffling around and trying to focus my eyes...). Sam is coming along really well, he is a happy little boy although a little confused; he seems to realise that someone has gone (Phill, his Dad), but isn't sure who. It's probably because Phill was away on training courses so much before he went away. Anyway, he's overseas now, we we're all somewhat down when he went but tried to keep it together for Sam. Phill recorded some stories on DVD for Sam to listen to and watch while he is away, and the RAF provided a special series of audio recordings too; Phill recorded the stories and some messages, and they are sent off for background music and effects (according to inside sources they take 3-4 hours of professional editing to iron out all the original glitches and adding everything in). She has received the first one and it is amazing! It's called "Guess How Much I Love You" about a little baby hare and his Dad. It's one of my favourite books, and I'm not afraid to say that both me and Fran cried like babies when we heard it! There are more to follow. Anyhow, how are you getting on?? Hope the dreaded cold has passed you by, keep all your work colleagues well away if they are infectious!! We're all pretty well here, I've got another wedding cake to make for a friend and a sugar bouquet for another one for his parents. Not enough time for sleep!! So, keep yourself well, and all our best wishes from me, Tommy and all the human clan too!! xoxoxx
Fankee, mai fren!! I agree...BETA is a challenge and a pain in the behind. lubznbonx, linder
Ohai there! Yet another gap between communications, but with Frances's Confirmation and all that, I've been away from the computer more than is good...I know, I have yet another batch of 500+ e-mails to sort out (and most of them rubbish!!!). I've also had a frozen shoulder; thankfully, with anti-inflammtories, heat treatment and a TENS machine, I've more or less got over it. Last time I had one, it more or less cost me the usage of my left arm for the best part of a year. Can still cuddle Sam though!!! Yes, the whole family was rather annoyed with Grandpa taking over everything, however, we took a deep breath and kept smiling. You are right in thinking that Sam is the first grandchild - on both sides!. Oh, and you're very right - Sam does have rosy cheeks, a cherub's smile and a glint in his eye; I fear the worst when he gets older! I'm already wrapped well and truly round his chubby little finger *sigh*. Weeeeell, what can a poor soppy Grandma do?? Sounds like Spring had arrived with a vengeance out your neck of the woods. It's nice here, although I'm up at Fran and Phill's place at the moment (Phill is leaving tomorrow :-( we're all taking it rather poorly), and every so often there is a splatter of hail or sleet. Ugh. Even I'm feeling the cold (and I have an extra layer of "insulation"). I laughed at the thought of the little bird making you jump - not in a nasty way! - it's just that it seems to be that the smaller the animal/bird, the bigger they seem to think they are!! Back home, Tommy's nemesis is a tiny little tabby female cat...one hiss from her and his tail almost makes it home faster than the rest of him!! Big brave puss...Iain sent me a text message earlier entitled "Kitty missing Mummy" with a picture attached of Tommy curled up on my crocheted blankets; I usually put them over my legs when I'm home and he cuddles up with me, so it looks like he's going for next best...poor kitty, I miss him too, but Fran has four little furry monsters (not to mention Sam), all vying for attention. Such is life. Anyhow, I'm off to bed, need to be strong for tomorrow to support Frances and family, although I know from last time we'll all be total emotional wrecks, take care and try to avoid your husband's cold! Love, Karen xxxx
Thanks to you and your animal friends. You are very kind. I wish I could be more consistently funny, but I think I go in waves of funny, then not-so-funny, then "meh," lol.
25lb sacks? That's pretty good! I think I spoiled our squirrels here though... hen we bought this house I'd just driven back from Idaho, with 6 fifty pound sacks of walnuts in the truck, from my mother-in-law's walnut tree in her front yard. We had some very fat and sassy squirrels around here for the next few years!
Just snowed for 2 days, got about 7 inches but it is melting today! Should be a very nice Easter Sunday. Hope so for you, too!
(aaaand I carry on...) horrendously expensive, I think the last time I was at a theatre would have been when I was at school - we used to be shipped off to watch stageplays of books we were studying, so we got to see quite a bit of Shakespeare - mind you, a lot of his stuff is full of sex, blood and guts, so you never really got a chance to sleep through them!! Unfortunately, apart for a small amateur dramatics theatre, we don't get any big productions in our tiny city; we have to travel about 60 miles east to get to Newcastle upon Tyne (where we had to go as kids etc., etc.) or 110 miles south to Manchester. In either case, they are a real pain if you have to travel back afterwards...plus, I'm the only car driver (Iain never took a test in a car as he was born with cataracts and only ever gained sight in one eye; he doesn't trust himself with anything larger than a motorcycle, but now has vertigo - so his balance is off as well now! I am his personal taxi service...but he pays for fuel, so I never argue!). Oh well. I've seen some of the bits and pieces on T.V. when Wicked first came over and was performed and it looked really good. Oooh, you are soooo lucky!!! And no great big tall ones - or huge hair do's!!! Anyhow, I'll stop now, I think I've rattled on enough to put anyone to sleep; I will pass on even more snuggles and hugs to Sam, he is growing so fast and has started to smile - I can see he is going to be a cheeky one! - and Fran has said she thinks he may be teething already (oh joy...). I hope everything is going well with you and your family too (both human and fuzzy ones), take care, love, Karen xxxx
Hi there Mo!!! Sorry I haven't been in touch, so much has been going on in the past few weeks that I haven't known whether I've been coming or going! Glad to see that you enjoyed St. Paddy's, the roast pork sounds absolutely wonderful! We didn't celebrate as such, we had Frances, Phill and Sam down instead! They came a week earlier than Sam's Christening date to have some time with us...unfortunately, Phill's Dad took them over a lot. Fran was not best pleased as he had arranged things for them to do and places to go without consulting them. She is her Mother's daughter though - there was a rather distinct putting down of her foot as she wanted to spend some quality time with her Mum!! Plus, I got some great time with Sam - who decided to pass his cough on to me (I am now on antibiotics after being told off by my doctor for not going in earlier...). All told, the little cherub has managed to infect most of the people he came into contact with (even my poor other half in coughing and spluttering), thankfully Tommy has kept me warm and calm throughout it all. So, the Christening went really well, I haven't any photos at the moment because my camera ran out of charge that morning! I managed to get a photo of the cake (yup, I made it!!), but that was it. He wore the Latimer family Christening robe (after her father-in-law butted in yet again), but wore the Burgess family shawl - I've told them that it'll be the other way round next time...hee hee...I also treated them to a chocolate Guinness cake, a lemon cake and a coffee and walnut cake too; they all disappeared like snow on a real fire! Unfortunately, ever since, I've been coughing like a T.B. victim and have managed to develop a frozen shoulder to boot; I have to get better for the weekend, because apart from being a bit busy with all the church services, Frances, Phill and Sam are coming back on Friday as Frances is receiving First Communion at the Cathedral on Saturday. Another chance to see them all, plus she never got the chance to receive Confirmation when she was in her teens, so this was a great chance that was offered to her by the same priest who both married them and Christened Sam (he has taken a real shine to them all, he takes special interest in how they are and is always asking about them when I see him). I see you have been lucky and managed to get tickets to Wicked - what a stroke of luck!!! I could almost see you going to the theatre with your pyjamas on...theatre tickets are (continued)
Yes, I do have a facebook account but I use it only for political purposes. I don't put any really sensitive information in my account and I keep all of my financial information elsewhere. Also I use some pretty sophisticated clean up programs to scrub out my history every time I leave the internet. No cookies or spy bots for me.
Oh, girl, we would be rebels without a cause! Yes, the changes were swift and stunning; we need to take it on a little faith that maybe - and I do mean maybe - when the dust settles and all the new rollouts are implemented, 97% of cheezpeeps will have a site with which they're happy. I'll be the first to admit I shall probably be in the 3%. We're all going to have to just wait and see, I guess. :o)
I couldn't agree more! I can't even leave comments in praise of the LOLs (unless I utilize FB or Yahoo, etc. - which I don't want to.) Let's hope they revert soon! Hugs!

I am up this early every morning. I have to be at work at 7 AM. I just checked, and another friend took care of the other items on the list. Thank you for your help.
