Yeah, it's hard to really communicate on here, I check in once in a while to erview lols (and occasionally make 'em) :) Sorry to hear about the fires last year, they've been really terrible the past few, haven't they? Thigns are fine here, I moved (on my own), I got a REAL man now (though he hasn't moved with me yet, he just wanted me out of town in a safe place unknown to the psycho ex.) I like this new town, very Trekkie (it's called Vulcan.) :) My e-mail, btw, is isengrim@telus.net, I can be contacted probably more easily through there or as Darwin's Outcasts on Facebook (I had a chat with Granny Ogg there the other day). I really would like to keep in touch with Cheezfolk, but cripes, I just wish they'd have a proper chat area.
Hi up there! Longtime no hear. I usually just respond to peeps who message me, then notice "Hey...haven't heard from () in ages! gotta check up!" I made it up as far as Montana this last summer when the big fire hit. Most of our local forest to the noth & west is entirely gone. The fire was stopped 9/10 of a mile from here. Now the rains are bringing down debris flows nearby, but we have enough of a ridge to protect us from those. We've been raising a grey polydactyl kitten named Silvertoes. He's a pistol! whats happening there? Yrz, BGC
O hai Isengrim U were in my thoughts today as I was driving up fr Salt Lake to my friend's in Idaho. noted that yr Birthday is day after mine! I spent mine wandering allover parts of New Mexico & Utah. Hadn't connected in awhile, so hope yr doing OK. I do these trips every summer to some area or other. Perhaps some time I could come up & meet you! (actually not THAT far from Alberta at the moment!) So Happy birthday, which I couldn't say on 12th because I was climbing up to Delicate Arch & getting lost in the sandstone "fins". Best of everything! <3, BGC
I think the wolves n bears n otters n bebbeh seals are just unable (AT THE MOMENT) to compete w. AIG & the rapacious CEOS n the Credit Monsters....but that big wilderness protection act DID squeak thru today...our stock mkt is rallying. Enough of that & our boyo just MIGHT be able to inhale enough oxygen to take on the critter killers in the coming months. I swear I have never seen a president act like him! He's so "centered", no-nonsense, has decent psycholgical skills... I expect great things from him if he can keep that up. (I has a fond for Barack, he's the age of my nephew. I coulda been his babysitter!)
O Hai! Today there seemed to be a plethora of "wolf" themed E-mails and other messages. I decided after some ponderance that I would like to propose that January 23rd be declared "WolfDay" from this year forward. Of course it would factor in the entire Wolf genome, from Fennec foxes to Chihuahuas....oh, & endangered Golden Jackals, and angry dogs whose folks lv them alone all day so they bark incessantly & need advocates..... What you think?
Thanks for the caveat. I know, no matter how charitable the input, there will be those who plop the feces into the punchbowl. On Christmas there was a vid that peeps were cheering abt & this one troll cmes in & sez "I hope you all kill yourselves". He/she was obv. BITTER abt life. Sad. what I admired was how the group rallied to tell the person to lighten up. My contrib was, "Feel Better Soon." I'm learning so much abt human nature from this site!
Hai Isengrim; This isn't a reply to Jan. 17. I just blitzed Pundit Kitchen with some critical thinking! You might enjoy it. my post was around 7:10 PM on the Obama family Pic. http://punditkitchen.com/2009/01/20/political-pictures-obama-family-picture/#comment-108988 It felt GOOD. This is the first time I've ever watched an inaugural festival. Interesting. Esp. since I got to explore DC to a degree last Sept. Cheezecheerz!
Well, I do my best. :) And, OK, I must be thinking of someone else. It's been a long time, and I never was good at names, regarding Mr Callahan. I do remember the name of a BBS called The Skeptic Tank, but that was run by the Rice brothers, I think. I used to hang around Fido_Holysmoke a lot, and a skeptic echo that had folk from that mag there. Man, I'm just too trashed to think straight right now.
Damn,. I just read the news articles relating to it. The redneck yahoos who couldn't wait to start shooting made me so pissed off (this was on some local18 station came up when I searched Google) that I flagged every anti-wolf message as offensive spam and got it removed immediately. GADS, that's one thing that really raises my ire (and the things they say, if they were said about a group of humans, even a group we were at war with, it would be a racist hate crime! That thought _really_ burns my cheese. Wolves never flew any planes into any tall buildings, after all!) Never have I been so angry so as to flag a message, ever. Must go chill now. And thank you, my dear, for passing the word. And the tar sands are a mess. They show the fields often on the news. Granted, it isn't prime ecosystem to begin with (with all that tar just under the surface), but the operations themselves are poisoning everything up there, from ducks landing on tailing ponds, to Native communities whose
I just looked at your vid and the Petition site. mentioned was the industrialization of the area where elk dwell. What on earth is going to happen when they strip the entire northern half of your province for the tar sands??? Our outgoing President just snatched away the wolf protections down here--a leetle going away present among many other horrors. I'll pass on your info to my naturalist friends!
Sure, go ahead and send the link to whomever you like. I think I've heard of Mr Callahan before; I may have crossed paths with him in the 90s on Fidonet in my previous incarnation (I would have either been going by my real name or by Wolfie), but I'm not quite sure now .. but it's the only place I can think of .. I do remember talking to some folks from Skeptic magazine, though, on one or another echo.
I really appreciated reading your post and the rest re Huckabee over at Pundit Kitchen. I feel so much the same about our little pals. Sometimes it seems as if we're all partaking of one Great Soul. You might enjoy my spouse's website: http://timcallahan.info/index.cfm?id=240&fuseaction=browse&pageid=1 Also, I thought of a group that would enjoy your cartoons. Bcs. of my animal art, the.....FURRIES *gasp*...asked me to be a guest at their con. Many of them are aficionados of any anthropomorphic art whatsoever. I could give my friend Rainhopper your link if you wish.
