Yep, it's a tru story. Probably from the 1950s. The fella who saved him brought him back to England. Of course after the trip the poor bird was totally freaked out. The falconer actually wore a thick rubber vest to protect himself. And a VERY thick glove. After months he had the eagle tamed. His friend wanted to show off for his friends and sent the bird out. He didn't know what he was doing tho. He faced the eagle when it came in to land. It's too big, you can't do that. You have to have him land on you arm from behind. All the wings bashing him in the face scared and hurt him. His thrashing about scared the bird so badly it flopped upsidedown baiting. Flopping and flapping. The trainer had to start all over with it. Friending it and training it to trust him again and fly. All of it. I'd have been so frustrated!!
Hai new fren! Oh those birds of prey are stunning, aren't they? ~You know ravens are so smart they start training with them before moving to the raptors. Climbing up to get the fledglings to rear by hand is the most dangerous and difficult part. ~ I have a book 'Bird of Jove' about a giant beargoot (rong spelling) eagle a guy got from Russia only because the owner knew the bird was dying. It had something to do with the pigeons he was being fed. They don't let these birds go on a whim. They use this breed to hunt and take out wolves! It's quite a story. ~ Hope you're not freezing. God Bless!
