I don't mind telling you the cost. We're using PZI insulin, which requires a prescription and can't be bought at a regular pharmacy. It was $105 last time I bought it at my vet's office, but "only" $65 (including shipping) buying it directly from BCP Veterinary Pharmacy. One vial is good for 6 months. No Rx is needed for everything else. We bought a Reli On Confirm monitor from WalMart after reading several good reviews. The total tab at WalMart was $52 for the monitor, lancing device, 100 lancets, 50 test strips, and 100 syringes. One last note about the insulin: When we brought him home from the hospital in February, we were in a state of shock over almost losing him. It wasn't until things settled down a bit that I looked more closely at the vial of insulin they sold us. The insulin is good for only 6 months from the date it's made, and the vial the vet sold us - at full price! - was already 3 months old. Aaaaarrrgh! :-) Jennie
