I know what you mean. I get the feeling that sometimes, if new submissions are too few, the staff will raid people's My Stuff files, or maybe use their own Favorites archives to plump up the FP. The same "Whoa! I made that *ages* ago" thing has happened to me, too. And thanks for the votes!
Congrats on your Sci-Fi FP! I always found it so strange that McCoy couldn't get the hang of the finger position. I mean, it's not that hard, even if you have to teach your hand to cooperate. But it did make for some lighthearted humor, didn't it? :)
In the right context some of the misspellings are OK by me, though they've intensified to such a degree in the last year or so that I can hardly make out what they're supposed to say some times. The point of LOLs is to, well, LOL, not sit there deciphering. If you look back at the first couple years of the LOLcats site you can see there were fewer of them and only certain examples of grammatical errors. Apparently some people have mistaken baby talk for LOLspeak. // Yeah, I don't do Facebook either and I seriously resent the number of other sites (including this one) that have thrown in whole hog with them. Offering a link? Sure. Gearing every feature on you own site to how they do things there? That's more about ass-kissing Zuckerberg and only providing decent service to *some* of your own clients but not *all* of them. "Back of the bus" indeed. 'Kay... my soapbox is gonna go sit on the shelf next to yours, lol.
Thanks! // I see your point about the mods, now. I'd thought you meant the references in your profile, but I guess you meant in the LOLs. So, if they don't get it, it doesn't end up on the voting page, is that what you meant? // Wish I could see their excuse for my Totally Looks Like entry. It's been in the system almost 48 hours and it's not up for a vote. I'll wait a couple more days and if it's still not there I'll message Tofu, one of my cheezfrends who's on-staff. It can be handy having cheezfrends on the inside. Again, thanks for "seeing it." I'm always seeing similarities that sometimes strike a chord with lots of folks, but more often no one else sees it. It's always cool when I'm not alone. And it IS weird, isn't it - two actors playing two different Trek roles decades apart but still looking like twins. Cue the Twilight Zone theme music!
Greetings, OldDogZeroOne! Fang-Q fur asseptin mai fren rekwest! And now, because you're a man of science, I shall cease the LOLspeak. It's just sort of a tradition that I introduce myself to new cheezfrends that way. Not only did I like the stuff of yours I saw coming across my DB recently, I just had to friend request someone who opens his profile with Tom Lehrer lyrics!!! HooYaw! I look forward to seeing more of your LOLs as you make them! :D
You can message the ICHC support team, but usually it's a case of getting to know more folks here so you LOL gets posted to the friends a lot and therefore gets seen. I maybe get on the voting pages a few times a year and from there, if I'm lucky, get on a home page or front page. It takes time and there's about a 3-5 day lag from when you post to when you may get voted on. Personally, I post 'em because I enjoy it and if I get noticed, great...but it is not why I post. This place just makes me laugh and creating LOLs gives me joy. Making friends is nice, too, and the rest is gravy :)
