http://www.carepages.com/carepages/TeamOlive/updates/3304277?client_code=choa&ipc=mur is the webpage for info, updates, & pics of our little cousin. (She'll be 4 in July.) Several of my CFs loved the "Wedgie" story. The part her mom left out of the journal was that Olive did Not want to wear the "baby diapers" the nurses had put on her - thinking that she wouldn't be able to use a bedpan & wasn't supposed to move for at least 3 hrs after the surgery. It apparently embarassed and offended her that she'd have to wear "baby" things at her age!

Cool - I didn't know he was retiring that soon! Congrats to him and u. Good that the first move is fairly close to let yourself get organized and used to a retirement life before ur next big move.

By WatogaSP on May 7, 2012 at 1:14 PM

We're doing ok, just pretty busy getting ready for Hubby's retirement at the end of June. That also means that we need to sort out & pack up 10+ yrs. of living on the Wildlife Management Area. First, we'll move back to our own little cabin/big garage abt. 30 min. from here. Eventually, we hope to find a place abt. 1/2 way btwn our kids in Wyoming & Montana.

You got the flower correct. It's a Painted Trillium - arguably one of our most beautiful Spring flowers. We also have Pale Trilliums, Ill-scented Trilliums, and Sessile Trilliums. In the mountains where we live they're fairly common. However, not enough to keep one from a gasp and an audible "Ahhh.." when a trillium is discovered.

By Sylviag on May 6, 2012 at 8:22 AM

Is that a Trillium? We hve those here too, but are somehwat scarce.

Wanted to stop by and say Hi - haven't seen u around much and hope all is well in ur corner of the world.

By Sylviag on Apr 18, 2012 at 8:47 AM

Oh my - I did ED convo and u had quite a time of it with taking care of the elders. Hope both are feeling better now. I know how that goes since I have a 90 year old auntie and Bryan's Mom is 85. Took my elder to the doc yesterday and Bryan is taking his Mom to the doc today. Cabulance service :) But how cool how long lived your marraige is and how young u were when u met and got marrried. Sounds like ur sons have nice careers going for them too and one stayed in the great outdoors arena.

By WatogaSP on Apr 17, 2012 at 3:41 PM

Thanks for the hi! See the reasons I've been off-line by EDing convs. w. jlandis on Apr 14, 2012 and today. Will be back to normal routines soon.

Need your brain power. I made a site "Staying in Stitches" to collect any needlework related lolz. I thought that way, I might also find & keep track of other CFs who do needlework of any sort. Anyhow, I want to do the same thing w. food, recipes, & cooking. But, my brain just refuses to come up w. a catchy title. Any ideas?

Yes, it is kind of a mess right now, but we're learning to work with the Beta. ICHC will never go back to what it was before. I believe they are committed to this change and I'm committed to staying here so my option is pretty much to learn how to use, take what I like out of it and leave alone what I don't. I do not care enough about making comments on LOLs to want to establish a separate account of anything. If I want to communicate something to a peep about an LOL, I will just msg them. Other than the comments on LOLs, FB will just be an option. Ben has said many times. katkabob has taken the lead in getting helpful workaround tips on LOLs. I've faved them all to 1TeamKSO if u haven't seen them. This is a good time to move bearded Iris. My dutch iris are already coming out the ground. I hage a nice progressionof crocus, daffodils and tulips and then last the Butch iris inmy bulb garden. I really love springtime bulbs. What a wonderful place for Nik to rest. Would u stillh ang onto that propertuy if u do move out West? Where n the NW do ur grands live? And thx for sending the stuff. Some I can find homes for through jlandis and personally helping one nu fren that may need some of it.

I have to go do my workout and shake the wrinkles out cuz I'v been sitting here all day. But want to read ur msgs later. I think if Bryan and I were much younger we would have enjoyed that kind of job and lifestyle even though it is hard work,.

By WatogaSP on Mar 24, 2012 at 2:51 PM

OK, T-storms kind of went around us, but we did get heavy rain. I want to dig up some daffodils & iris this weekend for Hubby to plant on dearly-missed Nik's grave. We have our own property - abt 55 acres of field & woods - w. a stream, cabin, & large barn-style garage. Hubby took Nik out there to make a nice gravesite. That's where we're trying to fix things up now, before Hubby retires soon. (Neither the cabin nor the garage were completely finished. The garage only needs doors & some shelving, but the cabin needs a *lot* of refurbishing & finishing. I've always wanted to retire to the NW, or British Columbia, but for years Hubby wanted to hold on to the WV property. Now that we have grands, he's more into buying a little place in Montana, Idaho, or BC.

I'm not helping a specific CF right now. I kind-of wore out. I'm going to dump my extras soon, but there are some like the microscope, compass, matches, pocket knife, & bunway airlines that unless someone really needs them to complete sets, I'd like to keep a few. I have plenty of the Troll Science magnets now. I never was planning on getting a whole bunch of some coll. - like 100+ or even 1,000+ !! Of course -except for the magnet & beaker, the ones I like are the ones that are hard to find. I love the microscope b'cause it reminds me of the first one I had as a kid, the 1st one we bought our boys, & the thrill of 4th graders as they first used a microscope!!!!! The Survival set reminds me of all the hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. that I've done since childhood - inc. stints as Girl Scout leader (before boys were born) then Cub & Boy Scout leader as the boys each made their way through the Scouts. The Bunway Airlines makes me smile every time because it brings back memories of last March, when -for the very first time & by myself - I flew to the NW to see the kids & get a "Nana fix";-)

See my older pics. for lake & pier pics. I'll upload some more later. When I take pics of the mountains (where the WV Scenic Hwy. runs), you'll often see the top of the lake dam in the foreground. The res. should be where the personel cabin is, but it and the cabin were built when it was privately owned, then the guy put in the dam. A few years ago, the dam had to be replaced & you could see what the view originally was - the lower forest at the foot of the mountains & a stream that meandered (through the now-lake bottom).

In answer to your questions, Hubby & another Wildlife Manger (since moved) put together a handicap (wheelchair) accessible picnic table. They installed it in Campsite 1, right across from the concrete ramp that leads to the toilets. Next, he wants to put a second one near the concrete ramp & pier by the lake. We already have one picnic table & trash can there. One of my very good (quilting) friends teasingly asked that a picnic table be put there to replace one that was removed years ago! She told hubby that she was very proud of him & now all he had to do was install a pit toilet so that she doesn't have to drive to the ones in the campground. ;-P Carroll (yes, her momma gave her the man's spelling) loves the outdoors, but can't walk very far. She often comes out to our WMA & brings hand quilting, cutting, magazines, etc. to enjoy while she's getting fresh air & watching wildlife. I've startted mowing grass around the residence, barn/workshop, & gas/fenced-in garbage area. The local WVDNR stocked the lake w. trout abt a week ago. I think it's really neat that the folks who have a Class Q (handicapped) license and children 10 yrs & under (w. a licensed adult) can fish from the first of March through midnight on May 31st without any competition from people 11 yrs. -> . It's only a 5 acre lake, and abt. 1/2 of the shoreline is very accessible. It's great to see little kids learning to fish w. their parents or grandparents. Also, we have several Class Q folks who use the lake. From March 1st, through May 31st all other folks may walk to 2 smaller "upper" ponds to fish. The lake also has bass, bluegill, & catfish. [BTW, if you want to meow me, just put sd dot in front of my ICHC profile name and yahoo dot com after it.] Both my oven & refrig (not the freezer part) went splat within 2 wks of each other. Of course, Hubby has to get permission to purchase. (I told him if they didn't approve them, to just move the ones down from the personnel cabin. As the higher ups often use it for meetings, *that* would get them moving on the paperwork ;-p He did get approval, & now we have to wait for a sunny day to move them all - old out & new in. Plus, the back porch/laundry room door won't open fully w. the clothes dryer in place. Sooo.... it has to be moved outside before anything else!! T-storms getting near - prob. will shut down the computer & power ctr. A year ago, it hit 2 places, inc. the powerpole/transformer nearest the res.-bye modem

Hai, haven't chatted in awhile. Now that Spring is starting to sproing what do u and hubs have to do to start getting the DNR Wildlife receration area ready? Ar u finding ur way around the new site with temp workarounds passed on by peeps? Are us still helping anyone to 82?

By Sylviag on Mar 20, 2012 at 11:22 AM

By Sylviag on Mar 20, 2012 at 10:57 AM

By Sylviag on Mar 20, 2012 at 8:44 AM

Sending to u. Some of the extras u gave me went right to a nu fren, Cataff, that I am helping to get to 82 along with other frens. She started from scratch but we'll get her there.

It's fun. I'm finally starting to remember to go there every day and get a collectie and pick up msgs. Have had some gifted to me and have been able to gift some to others. The earlier u start the better so u don't miss out on too many of the earlier ones although they say there will be a way to get those too. One fun part is being able to make submissions for new sets and design collecties which I haven't gotten into yet. Sending u the link for the sign-in page. I'm still finding my way around there. http://173.174.111.76/forum/

By Sylviag on Mar 8, 2012 at 3:33 PM

Thx much, I will do that. How are things at the homestead?

By Sylviag on Mar 5, 2012 at 5:53 PM

Having worked for the Feds I sured do understand the morass of paperwork and desks something has to go through before anything can get done - even in an emergency. And what really held things up working for the Army was the "chain of command" I was always running into. CC forbit I go directly to the person who could actually get something done without going through a DNA matrix of lesser bureaucrats in or out of uniform who wanted to put their name and title on something. If u ned anyting back, u know where they're at for another month.
