Pretty much all wildlife is my favorite. LOL We have lots of black bears around here, so I'm learning a lot about bears right now. It will be interesting reading about a very different Atticus compared to the one in TKAM.

Are bears your favorite wildlife? Oh this Kamp Talont thing is so much fun :) Wow I had to look taht up - 55 years later her "prequal" is published.

I've been reading fascinating books about bears by Ben Kilham and Else Poulsen. I have trouble putting them down. I have a ton of fiction I want to read also, starting with GO SET A WATCHMAN by Harper Lee. You've been rolling out top notch Kamp LOLs!

Understand that you've been catching up on some reading - anything good?

I'm glad you like it, and I thank you for letting me know.

OMG Parade Balloon has me in stitches!

It was fun. The high Cascade Lakes are just a beautiful place to be. They have a "High Desert Museum" here that we take visitors too which features a lot of local history, indoor and extensive ourdoor exhibits and wildlife. They have visiting exhibits too so still fun to go to even though we have been there quite a few times.

The tour was terrific! I'm very glad we were able to go. Hope you enjoyed your camping trip.

How did the tour of the Wildlfe Center go? Sounds like your husband is fully recovered from all the surgeries and able to get around well and can do excursions like that now. How wonderful.

Yep, there have been lots of changes here, some good and some rotten. The most rotten thing, however, isn't here. It's the demise of CATT and Fbastage's behavior in it. It has kindly been called unprofessional, but I have other words for it. However, there are youngsters on ICHC, so I will refrain from using them here. Thanks for the link to the cute excuse LOL. I could see myself actually doing that. I love calendars for their pictures and often am not careful to look at the year. Next Tuesday is my tour (with husband and four other friends) of the Wildlife Center. I'm very excited about that.

And I missed your birthday too along with your retirement. Rats. http://cheezburger.com/8525841152

Nice to be able to call each day your own :) Been cruising around to check out the changes especially the Community Page. Have to follow it for a few days to see how it works. I had seen a preview of it before launch and it appears to be much the same.

I'm still not feeling retired yet, but I think I will at the end of July. I'm very slowly working on the thousands of things I've had to let go the past few years with all the joint replacements and work to fill my time. My attitude is if I get them all done, fine. If I don't, it won't be my problem. I don't know if that's a retiree attitude or an elder one or both. LOL It's good to see you back on here--a good event amidst another messy Beta deal.

Hi - did retirement go smoothly? I bet it feels wonderful knowing you don't have to spend half your summer getting ready for the next school year.

Thank you for the wishes and the link to your new Comix. You forgot to put the site links in the comments, so I did it. If you need an editor, I become available June 4.

This is wonderful news! Please post the URL for the shelter when you have a chance. I would like to see the site. Hope you will be adding a donation button there if one isn't already in place. Many organizations I support use PayPal for that.

I totally agree that group projects teach very little. Individual projects are an entirely different matter though.

By Sylviag on Mar 15, 2015 at 9:20 PM

When my niece was in college she got stuck in several group projects with 2 or 3 others and there was always one schluff off the rest of the group had to make up for yet all of them got credit at the same level at the end. I don't think that teaches anything - except preparation for the real world working life I must admit LOL

By cataff on Mar 15, 2015 at 5:33 PM

Yep, been there and done that. I see it with student groups too and don't assign a lot of group work even though it's supposed to be the end all be all of pedagogy these days.

By Sylviag on Mar 15, 2015 at 4:44 PM

ROFL on Group Projects. I am sure you have sat in meetings with a cast of thousands and had fun watching people either taking claim for a success and shunting responsbility for failures to someone, anyone else.

It is funny, and I'm pretty sure it's true in my case. Katweezle put it up.

By Sylviag on Mar 15, 2015 at 1:58 PM

ROFL. Pick any religion and I am sure I have borked some of its tenets.

Good on getting all the paper ducks in a row so all you hae to look forward to is the retirement party :) Rats, I can't get the link to fully load Just comes up with New Jersey Real Time News and a big blank where the article should be.

By cataff on Mar 11, 2015 at 3:42 PM

This is a rough week, and I'm about to run out of energy before I run out of week. LOL Yes, I'm working on the retirement papers and have appointments with the Social Security office and our system's central office. As soon as those are taken care of, I can sign up online for the state retirement benefits and contact my insurance broker to set up my Medicare supplemental policy and drug card. That will leave only my letter of resignation. I'm glad you are enjoying the daily calendar. My favorite pages are the ones with quotes from characters in the show. Those cheetahs are getting so big I have to look twice to distinguish the cubs from their mom. I'm sorry I didn't see the Today Show with the cheetah cubs. If you like cute black bear cubs, check out this cam: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2015/02/bear_cam_watch_cute_orphaned_nj_cub_on_video.html Little Mike is adorable, but his story makes me furious. Be sure to check out the entire page with the cam. The story is there and some very cute still pictures. There is even a recording of the sounds he makes as he falls asleep.

By Sylviag on Mar 10, 2015 at 4:34 PM

Hi how are you? Was one all weekend so didn;t et to see you. Getting all your paperwork together for retirement? Wanted to let you now too how much I enjoy the daily calendar every day. The cheetahs are out and about so much. Tonight they are all snuggled in their "den." On the Today show this morning someone brough in two cheetah cubs and they were so cute. They had big bowls of meat chunks for them so guarenteed they would stay right there until they wolfed them down :)
