I have stepped in on occasion when things get out of hand. For racist comments, things like that, I've flatly told people to stop, deleted comments if I had to. But for people just being mean to each other, I'm not going to hop in right away. And when I do, I try to talk things out. If I get too heavy-handed about being moderator I will destroy this community. I will drive off half the commenters and the other half will hesitate before speaking because they'll be unsure what's allowed anymore.
I'm not sure if he meant that not getting the reference made people uneducated, just that if you got it you must be educated. (One of those "all A's are B's, but not all B's are A's logic things.) Also if you reported his comment, that just comes to me. And while I care if someone's being a jerk, I'm usually not going to do anything about it. At least not initially.
Heh, The Mark glad other people still call it that too. I used to go to the Mallards games all the time before they switched to the QC Flames and then back to the Mallards. I usually miss out on most events due to work anymore as well.
For only a dollar to get in it'll probably be better than anything else I'd have planned for that day. I does look pretty small time though, but I don't expect much out of the Quad Cities really. It's not like we're Chicago or St. Louis.
Yeah that's mainly what's kept me from going to any cons, besides simply not knowing about them. Entry fee, plus gas, plus hotel, adds up quickly. Getting off work would just be a matter of having enough earned vacation hours and getting it approved. But it's also one of those things where I feel that they won't go on forever, so I'd like to see one before they start fizzling out.
This con seems to be anime focused but with a lot of other general population culture themes as well some of the past pictures showed whole MLP vendors even. Too bad you can't find anyone to go with. I still need to find out from my friends what our plan is. We always say we need to set up a plan and then end up winging get it at the last minute regardless. If it's good I might think about planning on one of the relatively close mlp cons next year. Chicago, Minneapolis and Kansas City, MO all hold one and they're all about the same distance from here.
I like the cosplay. It's cool seeing creativity like that and I'm not skilled or invested enough myself to ever get into it. Though I think I want to go mainly for the vendors as well and I've got about four or more of my friends interested in going so we'll be there as a group. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Yeah I've never been to any either but this one's big enough to get a least a couple mainstream voice actors as guests https://qcanimezing.com/guests. I've never been mainly cause I'm not too comfortable in large crowds and most cons are too far away. This being in Davenport though makes it easier to get to so I'm definitely going to check it out.
It's good that she's out of the hospital though. I have an unrelated question. Have you ever gone to the Anime-zing convention the have over at the River Center in Davenport. It's been going on for six years but this is the first year I've heard of it. None of my friends have gone before but going off of all your profile likes I figured you might have heard of it.
COPD's can be pretty bad. My uncle's been a smoker his whole life and now he can't take more than five steps without being completely out of breath. Worst part is, he still won't stop smoking. I hope your mom's isn't that bad.
