…But then again you often see rank newbies making the front page, so there’s hope for us all! I think the key is just to have fun with it. That’s what I do. Visiting the site and dreaming up captions brightens the rainiest London day. If there are any LOLs you are particularly proud of, please let me know and I’ll vote for ‘em. If you’re interested I’ll tell you which of mine I think have front page potential. All the best, Pipwood P.S. Have you visited the back pages? There are some absolutely hilarious ones.
I'm not 100% sure what it takes to get on the front page either, quite frankly. There are stages: first you get on the "upcoming" page, where more users can see (and hopefully vote for & favourite) your LOLs than they would if they were confined to your profile. I assume the webmasters choose those based on how many votes/favouritings they’ve got already. You will also have noticed the "vote" page, where members can give the thumbs-up or thumbs-down to a succession of LOLs, which I always assumed were one step closer to the coveted front page slot. Whether or not there’s another layer of politics I don’t know about, I have no idea, but there certainly seems to be a clique of regulars who keep up a constant buzz of favouritings and chitchat amongst them… (Am getting near the 1000 word limit, so will split this message into two…Pip)
I have little clue as to what's going on here. I was stunned today to find that people had been favoriting some of my work. (I never noticed the Dashboard before). I try to keep my work up to standards set by my teenage daughter who seems to know the difference between real LOL and simply lame. She told me I had a winner with the simple villich ket and apparently so. Also have no clue as to how people get on the front page. do they just watch to see which LOL hit 1000 favorites or something?
Greetings, akaRF, Welcome to ICHC! You seem to be going great guns already: it took me months to be favourited by 40 users. Well done! I absolutely loved your granny in babushka from the stetl LOL, and "the boots aren't dignified" made me giggle, too. Keep up the good work. You'll be on the front page in no time at this rate! All the best from London, Pipwood
