I realize that. He and I were chatting the second day of the change. I have said I would stay out of complaining and I will. That hardly means I agree with that has happened. LittleAPC has been collecting Beta lols for about three days now. Now, I hear Facebook is having trouble with it. I don't know if that's true. I know it worked for Constable65, but I have other reasons for refusing and I am staying put. One thing I don't understand is he says they left Wordpress because they required users to open an account and then he required the same thing with one of the four. Where is the advance in that? I'd rather have a Wordpress acct than Facebook.
Hi BF473, I certainly have not "pooh poohed" those suggestions in the past. It's something I have pushed for here, but the problem was that based on every scenario we looked at, it would diminish commenting to a trickle of what it used to be. So we lived with it until Wordpress required that users create a Wordpress account to comment. That became a big problem for us as we were forced into a decision. In the beta/Facebook comments, more than a billion people have FB, Yahoo, etc. accounts and use it everyday. Some people objected against Facebook on the grounds that you will have to use a real name. So the alternative options are to allow users to use a pseudonym, and if you want to do that, you can use your Yahoo, Hotmail and AOL account.
Hi BF473, it's hard to see from an individual (or a group) perspective, but we gather data across all our users. The number 1 system our users use outside of Cheezburger is Facebook. For some, it will be a change in how to use our comments, but for the 90+% of users who have Facebook, it will be much more user-friendly and encourage commenting. In public areas on Cheezburger (like comments) we encourage people to be logged in because we want to keep the comments somewhat accountable and minimize trolls and spam. This messaging system I'm using now on the Profile will not require Facebook.
I did a lol awhile back after the FP changes about Cheezebook, Faceburger and I think it made customer service mad at me. I meant it as a joke at the time. Turned out it was prophetic compared to some of the names they are calling facebook now.

It really is a shame what is happening. And the fact that the staff has made no comments other than the formulaic "We are just trying to make ICHC faster and 'easier' to use" stuff. Faster? Easier?? Who are they kidding? It's much more complicated to even 'fave' a lol. And forget about knowing who else faved it, or how many people faved it. Short of going through every single profile's fave file it's impossible... Well, we can only hope that they'll listen eventually and give back what we all come here for. Good day, hon. When you go to the Beta site, after a short while, a small pop-up appears and you can click on the options, eg no 2, and then a dialog box appears to enter a comment. Fancy that! I didn't know we dinosaurs had to have a Word Press account. I joined when ICHC was gaining in popularity by leaps and bounds ~ sometime within the first year. But as I am in New Zealand certain PC stuff is handled differently. Most of my dealings go through Yahoo. * Underwhelming * is common these days. Lol! :D
I have mailed ICHC via the 'Contact Us' tab. I received an automated reply to let me know that someone will respond in 2-3 business days. I'm nawt holding my breath! ;)
By the way, please tell me what is a WP account? Thanks so much. I'm not very savvy with all these mod cons ;)
