What strides? Bloody great big ones in the opposite direction!! Nahh, I've done the ol' boiling water down the holes under the bushes and trees trick, and tossed baggies of rat-poison over the back fence. The rats eat the baits and die, the snake eats the dead rat with the same result. Problem solved!
The walking-stick proved its worth when I was mugged on the Angel, Islington tube station in London. Jim-3..Muggers ..0. heheh!
The python is probably twelve feet long by now. She dines on the fruitbats that steal my mangoes so I leave her where she is. The taipan I have hanging around is probably the coastal variety, even though he's a very light colour. Saw one at the old house that was around ten feet long...nasty bugger!
I always take a Makonde ebony walking stick with me on walks. Very handy if the footing on the mountain tracks is a bit slippery. Snakes in my yard? Yup I've got a resident python in the mango tree, and the occasional little tree-snake accidentally lands on the lawn, and I had a large piece of the skin of a taipan in the back yard last year. They're the deadliest snake in the world!!
I was fairly lazy today; took a leisurely drive to the dump, emptied the trailer, did a little shopping for dog-food and the odd thing for me for dinner (Marinara!) and then played in the garden with a herd of mutts who seemed to have boundless energy.
I wore a tee-shirt for a half-hour cleaning out the garage, and got warmed up enough to toss it to one side. Five hours of non-stop sorting, then a ten-minute break...and then another two hours of hard slaving saw the trailer filled to overflowing with junky and broken stuff that I've finally given up on. Tomorrow....I'll start on the other side of the garage...and I'm not kidding either!
Two BIG poodles, Big Benny, my two hoodlums and a Jack Russell terrier today! Marlee is here five days a week but he's gone home for Sunday and Monday. It's a chilly 26c. here today; I might go and play in the shed and make some room for any new bits and pieces which may fall into my lap. The auctions are on Friday!
Great news! Hope that the employment becomes a permanent thing...as long as you're enjoying whatever it is that you're doing. There's nothing worse than drudgery. Me? Fine! The dogs are well, and looking forwards to sleeping on their freshly-washed pillows and blankets.
