Over 700???!!! May they rest in peace!
By icguy34 on Nov 9, 2014 at 7:54 PM
Not only would they want to travel on the Titanic (first Class), I bet they'd be willing to pay enormous amounts of money to do so!! Just like people are willing to pay $250,000 for a trip on Virgin Galactic's suborbital space plane SpaceShipTwo that crashed recently in the Mojave desert of California! That space ride is the brain child of billionaire Richard Branson. But I've heard that the way the space technology is being developed for that space ride is really shoddy, yet there are plenty of people who would line up for a ride. They've got over 700 people already that want to go!
By raekathy on Nov 9, 2014 at 7:42 PM
Yes, I think those guys really wanted to travel first class on Titanic! Considering the huge death toll, that's definitely an unacceptable risk! Fifteen hundred dead vs. seven hundred survivors? No thanks!
By icguy34 on Nov 9, 2014 at 7:32 PM
I didn't see that James Cameron documentary about the Titanic that you described. Superimposing images of actors onto the ship sounds really CREEPY! I think that Cameron is probably obsessed with the Titanic story. But he was smart enough to make a ton of money off of that story. Do you think that people on Encyclopedia Titanica that are squabbling over seats for the Titanic might actually want to go on that same maiden voyage if they could? I bet there are a lot of people who would! Not me though. I'd rather avoid all that icy water!!
By raekathy on Nov 9, 2014 at 2:40 PM
I have seen James Cameron's Titanic documentary "Ghosts Of The Abyss". In this, he filmed the wreck site and superimposed images of actors on to it, so that we can see what the different parts of the ship were for. Very eerie!!! Those guys form Encyclopedia Titanica who were fighting over the cabins are more than welcome to them!

Hi raekathy.. I'm glad you like the monorail kitty. That kitty certainly looked a little "funny" wiff his back end up in teh air.. Here's another monorail LOL i did. It was my first FP and I've always liked this one a lot.. http://cheezburger.com/6899940352 *** I saw you favored the LOL "Teh KKPS staff gibs fanks tu Elizabethrose!" I hadn't seen that one before. Elizabethrose had created the Tail Bandit kittie which was very popular for a while. I always liked that Tail Bandit kitty and did a lot of those. Maybe I'll do some more. She also created another kitty called the Alley Cat, I think. But I haven't seen Elizabethrose for some time now. I hope she returns. *** I just saw your LOL about James Cameron's kitty not liking so many Titanic reenactments. That was a funny one. James Cameron certainly seemed to have a bid obsession with the Titanic story, and he made a lot of money off of that story. He made that hugely popular movie and then he also did one or 2 documentaries about the ship and why it sank. Did you ever see those?

Congrats on monorail kitteh! That broken front axle just made him more elegant!
By icguy34 on Oct 29, 2014 at 11:28 AM
Raekathy, did you see this LOL that I did: http://cheezburger.com/8359599360 ** I was thinking about your kitty when I did it. I was also thinking it might be a fun idea to have an Aussie kitty at Kuppykakes. Say Suzi, who might say some Aussie words like G'Day. Also, maybe Suzi could offer Stewie some vegemite (hehe) or lollies (I guess those are candies or sweets). Since your are from Australia, maybe you could do those Aussie LOls if you wanted to. Do you like that idea?

I'm very happy that you like the Birthday LOLs.. Those geeses really are bery well dressed. And I appreciate the tea cake you offered.. I hope you had a wonderful Birthday.. ** About the Titanic cabins, I think I'd want a cabin closest to a lifeboat, but they did have a women and children first policy, so a cabin close to a lifeboat might not have helped. But there were 128 (16%) of adult male passengers that survived, which surprised me, because from the movies about the titanic it appeared that almost all the adult male passengers drowned.

I love your two birthday LOLs! Those geese look gorgeous! I'm sorry about the lack of tuna cake, but I do have a very nice tea cake, wish I could give you a slice!
By raekathy on Oct 26, 2014 at 10:05 PM
Thank you so much for the two lovely birthday greetings! They are much appreciated. By the way, what did you think of those two guys who wanted a cabin on Titanic? Worst. Cabins. Ever.!

The woman who had the premonition about Titanic was a Mrs. Bill of Philadelphia. She and her husband were booked on Titanic, but she had a nightmare about it sinking. Luckily, they transferred to another ship! Also, survivor Eva Hart always said that her mother had a premonition that something bad would happen to Titanic at night, so she always slept during the day and stayed up fully dressed every night. One night, she was right and she and her daughter were some of the first into a lifeboat. Mr. Hart didn't make it, due to the "women and children first" rule. I recently read a weird conversation between two Titanic enthusiasts on the Encyclopedia Titanica website. They were discussing which cabin they would have liked on Titanic! I don't think they thought that one through very well. I, too, would like a first class cabin... ON ANOTHER SHIP! I prefer the nice, dry, floating ones with the added comfort and convenience of above water accommodation! Suzie is doing very well, thanks. I'm sorry you have Ebola patients over there. We thought we had one, but she's OK.

Oh, I wanted to also get back to you on the Titanic story. I thought it was amazing that when the wireless operator from the Californian sent Titanic another ice warning at 10:30 PM or so, that the tired wireless operator on the Titanic told him to shut up!!!! If only he had listened and the Captain had slowed down or changed course, the whole tragedy could easily have been avoided. I guess that's just a matter of fate. I thought I recalled the story of some woman who had a premonition about something bad happening to the titanic, and she changed her mind and decided not to sail on the first voyage! Did you ever hear that? -- And how is sweet Suzie doing? -- Did you hear that the US now has some Ebola patients? It seems like a great mess and out govt is not taking it seriously.

Hi raekathy! I'm glad you like the new Unknown Kitty LOL.. I wanted to do that one first before responding to your message. Punkin had put out some tasty mousy soup for the Unknown Kitty and the Unknown Kittie found it and had a great meals! I think the UK should stay around for quite awhile.. People are still making excellent LOLs for dat kitty and I enjoy seeing all the new ideas that people have for the Unknowed Kitteh.. Initially, when I had Madame Esmeralda first mention in one of her predictions that there would be a search for the Unknown Kittie in a terrific storm, I thought I'd resolve who that kitty was after the storm (and all those sharks wiff big teeths). But when I saw how people liked the Unknown Kitty and came up with some great LOL for the UK, I thought it best to keep that character going. The more I see of the Unknown Kitty, the more I like him or her.. I'm not sure if the UK is a boy or girl kitty. I wonder if we'll ever know.. plaidcats has several LOLs with photos being taken of the UK, but they always seem to be too dark or indistinct! I think there's also a drawing of the UK too, but that wasn't very helpful either..
By raekathy on Oct 13, 2014 at 7:26 PM
Aha! The Unknowed Kitty is now posting LOLs! Surely, he/she won't be unknowed for much longer. I'm glad they're enjoying their noms!
By raekathy on Oct 11, 2014 at 4:32 PM
I see that the search for the Unknown Kitty continues. Do you think this kitty will ever be known? Will they then be replaced by another unknown kitty? I hope someone is feeding the unknown kitty, even if they don't know who he or she is!

Here's why the Californian didn't reply to Titanic's SOS- Titanic's wireless operator Jack Phillips had been working a very long shift and was still trying to clear dozens of wireless messages from snooty passengers. At about 10.30 PM, the wireless operator from the Californian sent Titanic yet another ice warning. An exhausted Jack Phillips told him to shut up! He did so, turned off his wireless set and went to bed. When Titanic tried to contact the Californian an hour later when disaster struck, there was no-one there to answer. The investigation into to sinking was a bit of a white wash, especially in England. In the US, they really tried to apportion some blame, but the chairman of White Star lied through his teeth. He (J.Bruce Ismay) was largely responsible for what happened. He encouraged Captain Smith to speed up (there were eye witnesses to this) and it was he who vetoed the addition of enough lifeboats for everyone on board. In spite of this, he had the nerve to get in a lifeboat, although there were still 1,500 others still trapped on board, including children. Despite getting out of trouble in the inquiries, the newspapers had a field day with him and he was ostracized for the rest of his life.

Yes, too much alcohol especially when it's FREE, can slow down one's reaction time and impair judgment. Wasn't the sinking of the Titanic investigated and no one was found "guilty"? And wasn't there a nearby ship that didn't respond to the SOS from the Titanic. I think that ship was the California (??) if I remember correctly. I wonder why a ship wouldn't respond to an SOS.
By raekathy on Sep 24, 2014 at 10:15 PM
It's true that Captain Smith was ignoring ice warnings and trying to beat the time Titanic's sister ship Olympic took to cross the Atlantic. However, a rich American family called Widener had invited him to dinner that night at the a la carte restaurant. Who knows how much booze they all put away???!!! Enough drinks and you might think "seen one ice berg, seen them all"! I don't think nanna was very keen on sport. She was a lively dancer in her youth and very tiny but charming.
