ED convo with you and BD on Alfie. I am a great believer in the "things are meant to be" Alfie was meant to give joy to some other hoomin but I know there will be another perfect match for you, hubs and the furry clan. Safe trip to Michigan and have a wonderful Christmasmy friend. I'm all ready for the festivities the next two days.
I understand the lonesome...just pull Weegee close for a snuggle. You'll have another goggie for a group hug soon enough. We just have to trust that HS will find a different great home for Alfie. The exciting thing is there's another deserving, adorable goggie out there that doesn't yet know how wonderful his life is going to be when he finds his way into your heart and home. Enjoy Michigan and the family...be safe on the road!
Sigh...so Alfie wants to focus his love on his humans and not be distracted by other goggies and kittehs. I get that. It's too bad he won't have the opportunity to try to work past that but I'm sure they'll find a wonderful forever home for him. The good news is I have no doubt that you'll find another goggie to fall in love with very soon that can't wait to become part of your pack. That will be a very lucky dog!
I'm sure that if they were making a checklist of ideal circumstances, eight cats probably wouldn't appear high on the list. However, loving humans that have long demonstrated the desire and ability to provide a wonderful home to wee furry ones has to appear in the top two or three traits and you have that in spades. The fact that Weegee is so awesome should show that he's no worse off for having so many feline siblings.
The holidays could be a tough time to settle in a new woofer anyway. There's often so much commotion. Of course different folks have different tolerance levels for commotion. Some embrace it as part of the unbridled fun of having dogs. I prefer my chaos a bit more controlled. My kid sister works, lives alone and already has two border collies. She's looking to bring a third into their lives this next year...and a puppy at that. That's a little more unbridled joy than I think I'd be comfortable with. I'm glad that hubby is coming around to the possibility of Alfie joining your home.
Is that Alfie on page two of your picks with the curly coat? I hope he and Weegee get along. It's always nice to open your heart and your home to a furbaby. I wish you and yours a very festive and happy holiday.
Ohai, jenny. He looks like a winner to me. I have a cocker spaniel that was a rescue. He's my snuggle partner. His sister is a rat terrier who was left in my yard several summers ago. I wouldn't trade them for the world. Buddy Lee isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but GiGi makes up for that.
