Hi, Linda! Can you do me a favor, please? Please, go to our fb friend Trish Martin page and tell her that I don`t have internet connection. She took her kitty to the vet, yesterday. I hope Cuddles is all right. (Trish is very worried about Cuddles) I`m thinking of her and I`ll keep her and her kitty in my prayers! I hope I`ll have Internet connection, tomorrow (it`s horrible without it) Thank you! PS I`m at my office now and I have Internet here, but I don`t access my fb account at work!

You are absolutely right. That's a bad combo. Your warning caused me to dig a bit deeper. None of the major peanut butter brands are using xylitol. There's only a small group of specialty shops that are using it. I also saw the quantity a dog would have to consume in order for it to be lethal and it was pretty significant. Still, I know if Becky got hold of a big tub of peanut butter unsupervised she'd make every effort to eat enough for that to come into play. Full is not a concept she's familiar with.

Virgil is such a great name for a dog and I'm a big fan of Rhodesians. They're a very stately breed that can be quite friendly and a lot of fun. Possession can come into play with that gesture which can be endearing so long as it doesn't turn into (overt) protectiveness. Virgil does sound pretty amazing. I know I enjoy it when Becky crawls under my desk and goes to sleep on my feet. I'd like to think it's affection/possession but I suspect it's more a matter of limited space and it increases her ability to keep tabs on me and she can sleep more soundly. In all the years she's been with me I've never been able to sneak out of a room when she's sleeping. She's such a sweetie. Let's hear it for the Virgils and Beckys of the world!

G'day, Linder! Cats drew my attention to your comment/question posted on the Yosemite shot with Syl, Bryan and Becky. You've got an eye for detail. I'd never noticed Becky's paw on Bryan's shoe. Typically I would associate that with a dominance move but there isn't a dominant bone in Becky's body. She's not submissive either. She's very much a "stay in your lane" kind of gal. As long as everyone behaves themselves she's all good. If a dog makes a social mistake when they're learning she takes it in stride and never reacts. She has a real sense of when a dog is posturing or if they're up to mischief. The only thing she has no tolerance for is if another dog puts its head up over her shoulders in a dominance move. That invites a very quick and decisive snap that effectively communicates "knock that crap off". It's only happened a handful of times but she's very consistent about it. Now that I've wandered all over the place my assessment is that it was more coincidence than anything else that got Becky's paw on Bryan's shoe. She was looking for footing (pawing?) on that surface and that's where her paw landed as Bryan was holding her collar. Becky and Bryan had great fun together. Late in the afternoon we stopped at a swimming hole and Bryan threw huge sticks out into the water for her. I just stood around taking pictures of them playing together. They had a marvelous time and it was a nice reward for Becky who had to behave all day under fairly restrictive conditions...lots of time in the car and on leash and she wasn't allowed to swim in the Merced River which was a great disappointment to her. So now you have far more information than you could have possibly wanted. =)
