I remember watching Emergency as a kid. That and Adam 12 were big at the time. And YES they are ABSOLUTELY action figures. Don't embarrass them, mom! The kids using computers is not that remarkable but the introduction of algebra is a big deal. I'm only working on that with a small segment of the class though. Most aren't ready for it. The thing that slays me is the kids not knowing their multiplication tables, or math facts as they're now known. We introduce a lot of new concepts in the 4th grade but they all build off the multiplication tables. They can't really devote the brain power to the new topics if they're still struggling with multiplication tables. I'll soon be telling the kids: "If you want to know the key to doing well in 4th grade, it's knowing your math facts." Spend an extra fifteen minutes a night practicing...or even just doing flash cards during commercials when they get to watch TV.

The kids have been back in school for nearly a month. It takes a while for my teacher friend to get settled in so my summer lasts longer. I spend most of y time working with the kids on Khan Academy. It's a free website that has videos and tests for all math content K-12. It allows them to work at their own pace but I jump in when they have questions or are struggling. The more advanced kids I get to teach Algebra. That started last year and is quite fun. I sure never learned algebra in 4th grade. Some days I just take a small group of kids that need more individual attention and work with them on the lessons of the day. I often review tests with the kids and go over the problems they missed and make sure they understand the concepts. The teacher and I have been at it long enough now that we work pretty well together. She likes the fact that on any given day that I'm there she can shift gears and ask me to do most anything and I can run with it with very little guidance from her. Our "dawn" walk happens at 7 am most mornings. I get up around five and play around on the computer and enjoy a cup of coffee before the walk. I can see the appeal of a pet stroller for someone who carries a yorkie but I definitely come from the dogs should walk school. Teach the dog to walk properly on a leash and to respond to a leave it command and a drop it command for when they grab something the owner didn't see. I've been through it with Becky and still need to correct that behavior from time to time on our walks. Your personal firefighter is a little cutie. Little boys and their firetrucks often grow up to be big boys and their firetrucks!

I don't member dat either... Let's call it artistic license. It's a good call not not let Millie run off with those guys. It didn't end well. It's nice that you and Millie get to spend more time outside together. That's got to be good for her mind. I was really happy with that one pic of Becky. I normally get the stoic look from her all the time. It was nice to capture an expressive moment like that. Today will be the first day of the year back in the classroom. I'll be checking out the new computers to make sure we're ready to go with Khan Academy and will likely start that on Thursday. It should be fun.

Hi. That was a great gift for them. Whoever their Guardian Angel is did a good thing. I never would have gotten one that elaborate. Opie hasn't jumped to the topmost perch -yet. I think he'll try it some day though. The others like the lower half. Waldo is too slow moving to jump very far. Bette is still a bit shy but is coming around. She has a great purr. She likes the teepee, but I can't get a picture of her in it. I'll keep trying. Hugs, Linda

I will send it to you tomorrow. I have some really good news, Greta the little lame kitten is using her leg and it makes me so happy. I made some pics of some of the kittens today and posted them. Little stub tail Boz's mouth looks swollen, if not better by tomorrow will take him to the Vet. If I tried to write down all my animals names from the past my fingers would go numb. I am so sleepy I need tooth picks for my eyes. More tomorrow zzzzzzzzzzz Y.O.M.
