Hi its been a while. Hope everything is well with you. Got through the terrible winter and now we are emerging to find our yards a mess. We had complete snow cover for a long time. The canadian geese had an awful time finding foor and quite a few died. People starting feeding and then the snow went down. Some places we had 5 ft drifts that turned to ice and more than enough -20 with wind chill nights. Never never had that before. Moving south looking better everyday.

Hi Sorry Ive been away so long I didn't know how to communicate anymore when I came back. All is well, still working. I missed everyone.

By Sugarcatsmom on Mar 25, 2014 at 7:28 AM

Afraid ill be putting on my snow boots tomorrow hope its the last time. Ive seen TV shows where people did get road kill to feed lions, tigers, etc. They require a lot of food and I wouldnt want one hungry. Did you get the cold again. We sure did with 2-5 inches of snow and lots of wind by morning. Sounds like a Nor'easter or mini blizzard. The other day I got some of that miracle blur face cream. It works but may need the whole tube to blur everything.

Gotta put the shoes back on, they-re reporting! For both of us. Wonder what land cost in Africa? When I lived in Rome (GA)--acutally a rural community of Rome, almost everyone there was a victim of the beautiful dear. My schumbag ex & youngest son were and it really bothered him. Never wanted to go hunting There was a woman out in the boonies. who had a lion and she had notified 911 to notify her when then happened & she'd come & get it. Well, lions get hungry, too, I supppose! Take it easy though!

I was driving to work the end of February. It was a nice sunny dry day for a change. I heard a loud boom, my car stopped and I saw bits of debris flying in the air. I looked down and was trying to figure out why there was a large log on my car when the "log" moved. For an animal lover like myself to hit a deer has been devastating. Never saw the deer. The car behind me hit a dog that apparently been chasing the deer. The dog ran off but the deer did not. That was the only accident Ive been behind the wheel in all the years I've been driving. Someone else was coming to work the other day and saw a deer standing in the road in the same spot. This is a main road but old farmland lined with plenty of places for the deer. I see deer out my back door in the mornings.

Is the trend you're referring to the snow & ice we had here? Yes, we had a cold winter, but you have to remember that we haven't had snow or ice since Jan. 2011. It's been SO long since I was on here that I missed your car accident. Details--please?

By Sugarcatsmom on Mar 19, 2014 at 1:08 PM

n thinking of you. Almost spring I can feel it in my bones. We were thinking of moving south as you know in a few years but if this trend continues may have to move to Africa to avoid snow. Now that thee snow has melted everything is loaded with sand and filth. I see a lot of work this spring (if ground thaws) in the yard. Finally got my car back from the body shop. They did a wonderful job. My first accident behind the wheel in all thoes years and it had to be with a beautiful innocent animal. Anyway dont put the flipflops on to soon.

By venusdemilo on Mar 18, 2014 at 7:11 PM

Yes, we've had some gorgeous days but always sandwiched in between some cold, windy, or rainy weather. As fickle as Ga.'s weather is, March is always unpredictable!.

By Sugarcatsmom on Mar 5, 2014 at 8:08 AM

Your snow is gone you can go outside and wear flipflops now.

By Sugarcatsmom on Feb 16, 2014 at 1:06 PM

Every 20 years. We got a surprise blizzard yesterday into the night. Lots of high drifts. Pretty until we all got out and shoveled and plowed. The snow is pilling up and up. Roads are fine but our yards are loaded with snow. Was thinking about you. My daughter called on her way home from work asking if I needed anything and I told her cornbread. Yummy.

By Sugarcatsmom on Feb 13, 2014 at 6:52 AM

Glad you have power. Sometimes the weather channel scares me but they just want people to be prepared in case. I have a spray bottle of prestone deicer. One morning last month my car was frozen shut. I just sprayed where the door is attached to the car and it opened right up. Must leave a coating hasnt done it since. I remember one night a few years ago. I struggled home from work only to find my storm door frozen. It was dark and blizzard like. I just pounded on the latch until it finally opened. What a lonely feeling that was. Duh I should have sprayed that before I left for work. We will survive too.

By venusdemilo on Feb 12, 2014 at 6:43 PM

That is supposed to be Jan. 2011 & ... So we're only used to it every so many years.

By venusdemilo on Feb 12, 2014 at 6:41 PM

Now I have a sad--or at least a worry. We got all they predicted. So far it is beautiful! But the power is still on here, so that makes all the difference. I tried to go out to the car earlier, but it is totally covered with ice & frozen shut. Couldn't go 'out' if I wanted to. It's been quiet with no cars whizzing down the hwy. & x-way, as well as no planes. The last time we had snow or ice was Jan. 11, 7 now we've already had 2 this season. Supposed to finally go above freezing on Fri. & be in the 50s on Sat. It's crazy, but unless the branches start breaking, etc., it nice. I'm sure most all wildlife survived or else we'd never have any. They know survival skills that we don't. Hope all is well with you tonight. My son is bracing for it, also. Later~

By Sugarcatsmom on Feb 12, 2014 at 9:39 AM

Im glad you dont have to go out in the storm. I was watching the weather channel last night and they all seemed nervous. This has been one nasty cold winter.Ive lived here all my life and we dont get used to it. Let me know how you make out in the storm. I havent seen Sparky in over four weeks. I hope hes eating closer to his warm spot. We did have a brutally cold two weeks last month. Someone is eating when I put the food and water out at 6:00pm. I think its the kitty I call Happy cat. I know hes not happy. If i open the door or even look out the window he runs. I havent seen the deer in the field behind me all winter. Hopefully all wildlife survived and I will see Sparky when its warms up.

By venusdemilo on Feb 11, 2014 at 4:31 PM

No! I don't do X-ways no matter what. And don't drive with any hint of frozen stuff. Looks like we're both in it this time. I'd rather have the snow than the ice they are predicting. Prayers for us both. BTW-Did Sparky come back? I was hoping maybe he had found a good hiding place from the wind & cold. I hope so--don't like for you to have a sad!

By Sugarcatsmom on Jan 30, 2014 at 7:40 AM

Hi I was watching the weather channel the other night. I hope you were not out in that weather stuck in traffic. Welcome to my world.

By Sugarcatsmom on Jan 6, 2014 at 1:47 PM

PS Sparky MIA again. No one has eaten in the last four nights. I has a sad.

By Sugarcatsmom on Jan 6, 2014 at 1:46 PM

We did a quiet Christmas and also went out to eat. We didnt want to cook. Fridays blizzard was nasty. Daughter took me to work and home again. Two days of warms and snow is almost gone. Never know if it goes quick or stays tll spring. I watch the Weather Channel and the snow looks pretty. People that dont have to deal with it have no idea. The driving, shoveling, rocksalting, trying to find a parking space thats not a big drift, hope the power doesnt go out, shoveling in freezy temps with lots of wind feels like needles on the face, etc. Track the rocksalt in the house is not good for carpets or pets. Why do I stay. Its home. I probably will move when I retire. For now its shovels, scrapers, waterproof gloves and deicer. (dont forget the bread, milk and batteries).

By venusdemilo on Jan 5, 2014 at 1:36 PM

i couldn't remember if I had answered your "Christmas message'', but see that I did. That deserves another answer "Sandy" Claus! Glad Sparky is back. Actually was checking on you. We're going down to single digits with wind chills to minus degrees. Won't get above freezing until Thursday. I know that's nothing compared to others, but this is GA! My NYC son & friends around the country decided to meet in Mexico City day before Christmas & back pack through Mexico & fly back today. They were going to squeeze every minute of their time off. He texted me earlier while at Mexico terminal that was due to be in NYC at midnight. However there were flight delays & the best they could do was to put him up in a motel until he could get a flight to Dallas at 10:45 tomorrow. At least he doesn't have to sleep at the terminal!!! Then we'll see where he goes from Dallas.Hope you can stay in & stay warm & that the power doesn't go off. BTW, did your aunt remember if you sent her cookies? Except for Roxie deciding to run out the door, I has a very calm, quiet Christmas day. My bro, sis, & I took Dad & his wife out to eat on Saturday and that's enough celebrating for us. Take care--I'll be thinking (& worrying) about you. Maybe you should think about moving to GA if your daughter moves to NC. Lubs&Hugs! Deb

Hope you are feeling well and had a great Christmas. Sparky showed up. I must have just been missing him. Hes chubby and healthy.

http://cheezburger.com/7972732416 //Hi Sandy! Hope you're enjoy the day. If nothing else, then just reflection on returning the cat to that man. WOW! What a Christmas present you gave him! anyone who puts a microchip put in their pet surely wants to be sure it never gets lost from him. And you going to all the trouble to have it checked out is a REAL Santa Claus. I've been on here way too long now & gotta get off for a while. Talk to you shortly~

By Sugarcatsmom on Dec 18, 2013 at 10:54 AM

Hi Deb. Good news and bad news. The bad news is I havent seen Sparky and Im not ready to give up and here is why. A new black kitty showed up and ate three cans of Fancy Feast. The next day we managed to get him in a carrier. I said someone is looking for him. Sure enough last night the shelter called me to say the kitty had lost a lot of weight and was covered in ticks and had been missing three months. The kitty, Murphy, lived with an older man and the man had just about given up ever finding him. The shelter peeps removed the ticks and cleaned up the kitty and discovered he had a microchip. The owner couldnt believe it. Murphy was reunited with his daddy. I told her that was the best Christmas present . I was so happy.

By venusdemilo on Dec 17, 2013 at 3:18 PM

Oh, & my leg stuff comes & goes & isn't as bad as 'that month', so I've decided to wait until after the holidays to do the MRI,

By venusdemilo on Dec 17, 2013 at 3:11 PM

And now it's been about a month since I've been on here. I may click on for a few minutes & fave a few, but no messaging. Did nothing for Thanksgiving which was fine with me. My son had come down & had special plans for the night before, but I fell again & couldn't do it. Most importantly, have you seen Sparky? I sure hope so. Yeah, the ice storm came through here--about 3 days away from it, we had record high temps (i.e. 76) , then it blew through here like crazy & although severe t-storms were predicted, it was just mild t'storms, & then rain, rain, rain. It's always been said that 'if you don't like GA's weather, hang around a couple of days & it will change!". TRUE! We were down to 25 last night & is to be 68 on Saturday. That's when my only "Christmas Activity" will be--we take Dad & his wife out to eat & chat a while. They've been helping me unpack & fixing up a lot & then I'm in the bed for a couple of days. I haven't put up a tree since 1990, Put it up on day after Thanksgiving & kept coming home from work & finding it in a mess. My other cats had never messed with it before. But it was enough when I found her tangled in the garland, so 2 weeks before Christmas, I took it down.I'd put out the trees my Mom & I had made & even sold alot of, & maybe a lot of outside decorations, but nothing in the last few years. We have so little room inside & so many limitations as to what we could do outside. Maybe next year I'll have my apt. completed & will put up a tree. Have it stored in Dad's basement along with all my hand-made decorations. Is your daughter still talking about NC? I'll move up there with you to be near the water. Oh, no, you have tons of snow & so, so, much cold!!! Probably won't be messaging anymore before Christmas, but will do a card, so I hope you have a very, very Merry Christmas & don't worry about the relatives who say they didn't get any cookies---the next day, they won't remember that. Millie & Roxie are doing great & making me smile a lot, yet wearing me out keeping up with Roxie--she's truly a mess! Much love & hugs to you, Sandy!!--It's been a great year getting to be better friends! ~ Deb

How are you doing Deb. Is the ice storm headed your way. Do you do much for Christmas preparation. Ive got the tree and decorations up and mixed the cookies. Now we just need to bake and give out. My Aunt has lost her short term memory due to a blood clot a few years back. Last year she told her cousin she didn't get any of my cookies. The cousin called me and asked why. She got her cookies she forgot. The cousin is just as bad. Its so hard to talk to them knowing they will forget I even called. So far the kitties have left the tree alone and that is a miracle. Sparky, my little outside kitty has changed his feeding times. I didn't see him for days and thought that was it. He showed up Monday afternoon but would just drink milk and water. That's not good. I hope hes eating during the night. Havent seen him since. He looked good, chubby for the winter.

By Sugarcatsmom on Nov 27, 2013 at 7:59 AM

Deb, I think about you and my other cheesefriends. I dont think I've been to this site in about a month. Im so sorry to make you worry. Just had a lot going on and didnt have time for anything other than work and sleep. We are all fine. Its so much fun to watch kitties play. Ive been watching this winter storm come across. Its nasty right now with wind gusts 55 or so. I have a dentist appointment in an hour and hate to go back out in it. People here drive like idiots and think its great fun to cut in front of a car. Do you have plans for Thanksgiving. We (daughter and I) were going to go out to eat then she decided she wanted to cook. Fine with me I like leftovers. We used to have a crowd for Turkey day but now its just us. I would volunteer at a soup kitchen if it were just me. When and if I ever get to retire i will have time for that.My daughter drove to NorthCarolina three weeks ago and wants to move there (man friend Ha Ha) she said as her only living relative she wants me to come too. NewEngland is expensive. Rents are about $1000 now you want heat, electric, cable, phone. Houses are even worse. Sounds good. I like it here but i can live snywhere there is water.

Hi Sandy! Haven't heard back from you since a month ago. That worries me & i sure hope you're okay. Seems like both of us are going to have a storm, but i know mine will be nothing like up north. My legs started giving me problems again. This definitely seems unlike the knee problem. The Dr. thinks it is coming from my back & I have an MRI scheduled for next week & then on to the ortho. Millie & Roxie have pretty much made peace. They got into a squabble yesterday & I was surprised as they hadn't done that in such a long time. Sometimes they chase each other back & forth & it tickles me as Millie hasn't had anything real physical. Roxie is 'supposed' to be a 'young adult". but she acts her age (1 - 2 yrs.) & into everything. She has given much fun, smiles & happiness to both of us. Again, hope you're okay! Write when you can! Hugs~Deb

My message that went poof was: Did you goof up? Actually meant to say 'cortisone shot, anti-inflammatory, pain meds AND your usual cocktail? (You know I'm kidding!)

By venusdemilo on Oct 22, 2013 at 11:43 AM

A cone for KNEE surgery?!! Now I've heard it all! No, Roxie didn't have to wear one either. The only problem I had with her was giving her the anti-biotics. I finally figured out the trick when only 3 days left. She had the surgery in early Sept. before my knee got so bad so I'm just catching things up, but have a lot more in between to tell. I hope people don't tire of hearing my stories of her. I've done nothing about my leg except x-rays about 4 yrs. ago, but have to use a cane all the time & a walker sometimes. I can handle it like this, but not like how it was. I don't have stairs & I'm sure there's a few people who would take me to therapy & groceries. Heavens knows I've done it for them a bunch in the past 3 yrs. But I would do it for them anyway. Two of my friends are getting home care now, I just thought knee surgery would be too big a deal for that. You made me feel a LOT better, Sandy. Aih tanx yew bewwy, bewwy much!

Part 2 My babies are fine having a great time chasing each other and watching the wildlife in the back yard. I put a few banana chips on the back deck so they can see the squirells close up. I know what you mean about leaving the kitties home without you. My daughter is going away for a few days and Rocky sits by the window at night waiting for her to come home from work. He has a sad if shes late. Give my best to your babies and a special hug to Roxie. Is she wearing a cone. I hate those things. BTW you may have to wear a cone after your surgery I did.
